"As for the people, he removed them to the cities from one end of Egypt's border to the other." Genesis 47:21
There is quite a contrast between the Egyptians and Joesph's family. The Egyptians place themselves into servitude to Pharaoh, a godless society. They sell all that they have and are at the mercy of the government. They do not know God. On the other hand, the Israelites are given land and are given food. They are blessed by God. "Now Israel lived in the land of Egypt, in Goshen, and they acquired property in it and were fruitful and became very numerous." Genesis 47:27. Is not the same thing happening today? Cities are becoming bigger and bigger, high rises are going up and the people are looking to the government to provide for them. A life without God will lead to servitude. A life with God even in the middle of famine will be blessed and leads to eternal freedom.
What is God saying to me:
Dear Lord God, it is s joy to know You and to perceive Your promptings. You open doors for us to bring the Good news to others if we are living in Your presence. I thank You Lord for I see you in action in this world. I also see a world seeking to put us into servitude and we don't even realize it. Awaken us to a deeper relationship with You in our daily lives, to ponder You in the midst of everything going on around us. I thank You for these past few days and for the growth it has presented. Bless this day and may we always be ready to give reason for our joy. Amen.
