Week 15 - The Journey Day 7

Week 15 - The Journey Day 7

""When the Advocate comes whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth that proceeds from the Father, he will testify to me."  John‬ ‭15:26‬

Jesus speaks, I listen!  I pondered the world we live in, the constant barrage of voices that are speaking their truth.  It has an effect on us especially if God is not part of our day.  I thought about the Spirit of truth and what He is saying to me?   Do my actions speak of Him, do they speak of the love that He has for me?  Does my life replicate His?  I am sorry to say it doesn't, at least not yet.  It is a journey into the heart of God and we are pilgrims on that journey.

I recognize my own faults as I compare myself to Christ, I see my own weaknesses as I examine my actions.  Yet I know I am loved by Him.  The Spirit of truth does not condemn, He shows us areas were sin has a foothold, for me it is always being right.  And this typically gets me in trouble, especially with the boss.  So as you sit with God today, is there enough evidence to convict you for being a follower of Christ, your actions will speak for themselves.  "This I command you: love one another."  ‭‭John‬ ‭15:17‬

What is God saying to me?

Dear Father, I see the constant barrage that comes at us each day, You know what our hearts desire, give us the hope to live with You for ever.  Transform the world we live in by encountering each of us where we are at, convict us to change our ways and give us strength to do so.  Prayers for those on the battlefield, willing to take on what comes at them, may Love one another be our battle cry in action.  Open our hearts to hear Your message, I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 15 - The Journey Day 6

Week 15 - The Journey Day 6

"The Advocate, the holy Spirit that the Father will send in my name—he will teach you everything and remind you of all that [I] told you."  ‭‭John‬ ‭14:26‬

We are not alone on the Journey, Christ promised to give us help, the Advocate.  I start each day asking the Holy Spirit for His help with some very simple words, "come Holy Spirit and over shadow me" https://myemail.constantcontact.com/Prayer-to-the-Holy-Spirit.html?soid=1128411136649&aid=e8pg3wbwAII

Jesus was called Rabbi or Teacher, He is not going to stop teaching, life is a great teacher we learn what leads to God and we learn what leads us away.  Jesus knows we need help but we have to humble ourselves and ask for it, "Come Holy Spirit."  He has always responded with a lesson.  We are going to learn, might as well be the right way the first time.

The Advocate also engages our memory, if He is reminding us, He knows that we know we just need a gentle reminder.  When we read scripture He will remind us how others have followed God or falling away only to learn a hard lesson.  He engages our God given abilities and convicts us of what we know to be Truth.  Jesus speaks and we are to listen, the ones that didn't listen killed Him.  And in the process they killed themselves.

What is God saying to me?

Dear Father, there is Peace in the stillness of the morning, You have sent Your Helper to guide us to all Truth.  I trust in Your Divine Wisdom for this is how You learned as Son of Man.  Prayers for a world ignoring Your voice, who chose the way of perdition and are being dealt a heavy hand.   Engage our senses, our memories of what Truth is and turn us back to focus on You.  Prayers for those impacted in Louisiana from the storm.  Prayers for friends being hit with life.  Thank You Father for life lessons may they never fall short of Your glory.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 15 - The Journey Day 5

Week 15 - The Journey Day 5

""If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always, the Spirit of truth, which the world cannot accept, because it neither sees nor knows it. But you know it, because it remains with you, and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you."  ‭‭John‬ ‭14:15-18‬

The Blessed Trinity, can we separate the Trinity?  It is a mystery that goes beyond our intellect but in studying the words that Jesus gives us, He ties it all together.  Never fully comprehended but it isn't on our own power that we gain insight but thru the Spirit of truth.   "The Father and I are one.""  ‭‭John‬ ‭10:30‬. "If you know me, then you will also know my Father. From now on you do know him and have seen him.""  ‭‭John‬ ‭14:7‬.  "I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.  ‭‭John‬ ‭14:18

So we can not have One without the other, they work in unison.  Our lives are witness to the truth for you can not live out the truth without embracing Truth.  The Jews could not accept Jesus at His word even though multiple times He witnessed to the power of
God.  The disciples could not fully understand the truth until the Spirit of truth revealed Himself to them.  The scriptures came alive to them as they pondered the events of their day and Jesus entered in thru the power of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost Sunday.

We to must ponder the events of our days, we must listen for the word of God and the Spirit of truth.  There is no magical formula other than pursuing God, this desire to understand is one of the gifts of the Spirit.  As Jesus clearly says to us, "I will come to you."  I will take God at His word for He is the Spirit of truth.

What is God saying to me?  In your pondering I Am revealing grace to you, these insights takes effort and time along with the gift of desire.  Pray for the gift of desire for deeper union with Me.

Dear Father, I see You bringing all things together, I see You answering prayer right before our eyes, little do we know how the body of Christ operates yet it brings about change thru the events of our days.  I thank You Father for these gifts and blessings, may I not stand in Your way.  May I be obedient to Your will and Your word.  As I read, reveal truth, keep me focused on the task at hand and bring about Your desired result.  Prayers of safety for all those in harms way around the world, may the unbelieving come to know and worship You, Amen.

Week 15 - The Journey Day 4

Week 15 - The Journey Day 4

"He said this in reference to the Spirit that those who came to believe in him were to receive. There was, of course, no Spirit yet, because Jesus had not yet been glorified."  ‭‭John‬ ‭7:39

Jesus testifies to the Spirit and to where His words come from.  The power of the Holy Spirit operating in union with the Son of Man is an incredibly thing to witness.  Without the Holy Spirit the son of man operates in the flesh upon his own power, with the Holy Spirit miracles happen, His body is glorified.

"Whoever believes in me, as scripture says: 'Rivers of living water will flow from within him.'""  ‭‭John‬ ‭7:38‬

Jesus teaches this in scripture clearly.  "Jesus answered them and said, "My teaching is not my own but is from the one who sent me. Whoever chooses to do his will shall know whether my teaching is from God or whether I speak on my own." ‭‭John‬ ‭7:16-17‬

It is a mystery to fathom and therefore this burning desire to comprehend even though on this side of Heaven it will always be a mystery.  But God gives us the Holy Spirit for without it, we are just a man.  Come Holy Spirit.

What is God saying to you?  There is purpose in the delay, you know that I know all, repetition is a gift from Me.

Dear Father, I am blessed Father to have this desire, it burns within and can not be quenched other than seeing Your glory come upon another.  You know what drives me, You know what hurts when I look and see.  I thank You for the gift of living waters flowing within.  I pray that You rest within the souls that are being set ablaze.  Prayers for those wandering in the desert consumed in a world that seeks the ruin of our souls.  Bless this day, keep us safe and bring about Your Kingdom.  Amen.

Week 14 - The Journey Day 7

Week 14 - The Journey Day 7

"It is the spirit that gives life, while the flesh is of no avail. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life."  John‬ ‭6:63‬

The person of the Holy Spirit, those Jesus is speaking with are lost to the fact that Jesus is God, God the Holy Spirit is within, God is.  They see with the flesh and do not seem to overcome this hurdle, the miracle God has just done isn't even in their thoughts.  The Eucharistic miracle is missed because they do not see God.

I related to them this morning as I sit with God and we visit.  The things of this world can consume us and if we are not careful we miss the miracles that God presents to us.  The time in silence, in just being in His presence is a miracle, do we take the time to quiet the mind and bring His miracle of life to Him.  "It is written in the prophets:

'They shall all be taught by God.'

Everyone who listens to my Father and learns from him comes to me."  ‭‭John‬ ‭6:45‬

Do not be like those Jesus is speaking with, over whelmed by the world, their own way of thinking that You do not see God in your midst.

What is God saying to me?  I have given you bread from Heaven, with all sweetness.

Dear Lord God, it is good we are here, You see within and if we are listening, You penetrate the heart.  I thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit, I thank You for bringing me out of the norm to have a conversation.  Bless this day Father, help me not miss the miracles that You place in front of me.  I trust in Your divine wisdom.   In Jesus name, Amen.

Week 14 - The Journey Day 6

Week 14 - The Journey Day 6

"But the hour is coming, and is now here, when true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and truth; and indeed the Father seeks such people to worship him. God is Spirit, and those who worship him must worship in Spirit and truth.""  ‭‭John‬ ‭4:23-24‬

God is Spirit, the Holy Spirit one of the persons in the Trinity.  I witnessed this morning as the Samaritan woman at the well encountered the Trinity and in this event was being transformed.  In her mind she was not worthy to enter a place of worship because of her sin yet here was God in the form of man speaking with her, and having confessions.

Worshipping God is not a physical place, just because we go to Church we may not be worshipping God.  Look at the Pharisees and Sadducees, they worshipped in the Temple and God rebuked them.  The woman at the well told the truth to God, she did not hide from Him when asked about her husband, God knows our circumstances, why hide it.  In this encounter Jesus does not condemn, He loves in actions and speaks truth.

In our relationship each day tell God your situation, listen to Him, speak truth to Him and allow Him to work on it and you.  Most of
the time we create our own circumstances.  "Those who worship Him must worship in Spirit and truth."  The place is your heart and there you are drawn to God and drawn to worship daily in actions and weekly at the altar.

What is God saying to me?  I see, I hear, I listen, give it time.

Dear Father, You know all there is nothing hidden from You.  In our time together may we worship in Spirit with the power of Your Holy Spirit and in truth, holding nothing back.  I thank You for listening this morning and sharing of Yourself in the person of the Holy Spirit.  I do not always get it right but I try and as usual fall short.  Help me overcome my weaknesses, I trust in You.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Week 14 - The Journey Day 5 Happy Sunday😀

Week 14 - The Journey Day 5

"For the one whom God sent speaks the words of God. He does not ration his gift of the Spirit."  John‬ ‭3:34‬

Once again God's word speaks of the Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  God sends His Son Jesus and Jesus is the vessel for His Holy Spirit.  Jesus is the perfect vessel and therefore is in complete obedience to God the Father and God the Holy Spirt as He is God the Son.

Jesus holds nothing back from the Holy Spirit, He does not ration his gift of the Spirit.  What is the message for me in this verse?  He must increase and I must decrease.  My will should not overpower or in other words
ration the gift of the Holy Spirit.  God holds nothing back from us and in turn we should hold nothing back from Him.  It is In this cooperation that we live a life of abundant joy, it is the kingdom of God here on earth.

What is God saying to me? Take your time and do not rush, it isn't head knowledge (flesh) but heart knowledge (spirit).

Dear Father, there is such joy sitting at Your feet, there is anticipation of knowing what is coming and also not really comprehending the outcome though knowing it is happening.  You have not rationed Your gift of Self and I strive to not ration my gift of self though I fall short of Your glory.  Prayers of thanksgiving for Your gift and thankfulness of being able to sit in silence and ponder Your thoughts.  Thank You for this day, for the work of our hands and the desire to be a pleasing offering to You.  I ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

Week 14 - The Journey Day 4

Week 14 - The Journey Day 4

"The wind blows where it wills, and you can hear the sound it makes, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes; so it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.""  ‭‭John‬ ‭3:8‬

Nicodemus knows Jesus has God with Him because of the signs but he has yet to know the Triune God.  In meeting with Nicodemus, Jesus knows nothing happens of God without the Holy Spirits guidance and intervention.  Jesus also knows he must learn this before the Spirit blows upon him.

Like the wind we can not control which way it goes or what it will do, just like the Holy Spirit.  And like the wind we can be prepared for when it is ready to move.  Nicodemus was being drawn to God, the Son of Man recognizing this, heard His Fathers voice and acted upon it, enabling Nicodemus to be ready.

God can not move without our cooperation, it is in this dance of life when we ponder the happenings of our days and seeing the mystery of God at work.  Seeing the call for actions, to move with God, in unison with God and be a part of the mystery.  You matter, your actions matter, the mystery is revealed one day at a time just as in the life of the Son of Man and in the life of the Spouse of the Holy Spirit when they walked on earth in the flesh.

What is God saying to me?  Nothing is by chance, your choices are yours but I am always out in front.  You see the prize, you see the goal continue along the path, it is being revealed a little each day.  You matter to Me, I would do it all just for you.

Dear Father, there is such profound mystery in the happenings of our days.  I watched and listened as You teach upon the Holy Spirit, through others, through words heard, through events.  Continue to grow this sense of awe in this world, my heart is Yours and I know You are there for I recognize what You recognize.  Prayers for married couples to slow down and recognize the gift that You have given each of us in the marriage covenant.  Prayers for marriages struggling, help them hear Your voice calling them, drawing them closer.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 14 - The Journey Day 2

Week 14 - The Journey Day 2

"Jesus answered, "Amen, amen, I say to you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit. What is born of flesh is flesh and what is born of spirit is spirit."  ‭‭John‬ ‭3:5-6‬

Seeds of faith.  As we ponder God's word and grasp what God is saying to us in it, there is more than meets the eye.  Jesus born of a woman did not reveal His true nature to the world until He revealed the spirit when He was born of water.  We know very little of Jesus's life prior to His baptism in the Jordan when the Holy Spirit rested upon Him.  It was then that He began what we read.

Grasping how the Holy Spirit operates isn't easy, hard to explain but you understand when you understand.  Nicodemus was at the Masters feet listening and trying to understand with the flesh, not really grasping what was being told to him.  But God had given him the seeds of faith so in the future he would know that he knows.  For some you get it for others, like Nicodemus, you don't quite get it.

Resting in the Spirit and trusting, God plants the seeds, He waters it and when the time is right He reveals His message even if it is only a few words.

What is God saying to me?  You be faithful to me and I will be faithful to You.  I will always be faithful to you, the only difference is, you will recognize it.  Otherwise the mind becomes occupied with things of the flesh and miss out on the spirit.

Dear Father, You are faithful God always providing an insight that at first is unseen.  You are loving Father and I am an obedient son as best as I can.  Thank You Father for another morning in Your glory.  I ask for this same insights today as life comes at us, to sit and just be with You.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 14 - The Journey Day 1

Week 14 - The Journey Day 1

"John testified further, saying, "I saw the Spirit come down like a dove from the sky and remain upon him. I did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, 'On whomever you see the Spirit come down and remain, he is the one who will baptize with the holy Spirit.'"  ‭‭John‬ ‭1:32-33‬

Where to now?  Where God asks me to go and low and behold the written word of God giving us an example of "what is God saying to me?"  John the Baptist didn't operate on his own authority, He was obedient to the will of God.  He found time away from the madness of the world and spent time with God.

Listening to God requires a trained ear, an obedient heart, trust and patience.  In your heart you will hear Him speak, now your will must submit to His will and at times this will be difficult because He will stretch you beyond your comfort zone.  God wants us to grow closer to Him and this requires trust along with faith.   Patience in continuing forward even when doubt creeps in and nothing seems to be happening.

How many days did John have to wait for the Messiah?  Each day brought more and more people but no. Messiah.  And then what God told him became reality.   It is Jesus who baptizes with the Holy Spirit and John has seen the light of day.  Let's see what God is asking of each of us.  What is God asking of me?  (Write your answer down and trust in that small still quiet voice)

What is God asking of me?  Stay the course, you are on the journey many have taken.  Their stories are written for you to read.  Today will be a good day for I am with you.

Dear Father, this day is new and for what ever reason foreign maybe because the plan is unknown.  You know me better than I know myself.  Thank You for revealing the next step even though it may only be a glimpse.  Prayers for those that are sick and feeling alone, may they hear You speak the words "all will be well with you."  Thank You Father for a great meeting, and another one that will happen today.  Continue drawing in the picture.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 13 - The Journey Day 7

Week 13 - The Journey Day 7

"And he said to him, "Amen, amen, I say to you, you will see the sky opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.""  ‭‭John‬ ‭1:51‬

We will end where we began with John 1:51.  Whether you know it or not, we have journeyed with Jesus in all the verses that He said that began with Amen.   When Jesus begins with Amen, He is about to say something important and He wants our full attention. In the book of John there are twenty five "Amen, Amen"'s where He conveys a message.

"My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth."  ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭121:2‬.  Jesus was just a man, born of a woman who lived in life here on earth honoring His Father in Heaven.  You are no different other than our prayer life, my hope is that you see the glory of God in you.  The answer is Jesus, He is the way.  All the talking heads that point us to this or that are not the way.  All the dissension in the world leads us away from God.  Only sitting at His feet, listening to the quiet still voice, trusting in where He is taking you, will this lead to a eternity of happiness.  There is no easy way other than this.

When you sit still, you will see the sky open up, the angels will minister to you, Heaven will come alive.  Each day is an adventure that is meant to be lived to the fullest.  If not you, then who?

What is God saying to me?  I Am at work, trust in where I Am going, the joys of this world are but for a moment and the pain will be forever.  Without Me, you will be lost, with Me, you live forever.

Dear Father, I still thirst, I trust in Your Divine guidance and even though all is not accomplished, You have my all.  Prayers for tomorrow that brings about Your hope and desires.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Week 13 - The Journey Day 6

Week 13 - The Journey Day 6

"Then Jesus said to him, "Amen, I say to you, this very night before the cock crows twice you will deny me three times.""  ‭‭Mark‬ ‭14:30‬

The sin of pride.  Jesus just told the disciples that: "Then Jesus said to them, "All of you will have your faith shaken, for it is written: 'I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be dispersed.'"  Mark‬ ‭14:27‬ "Peter said to him, "Even though all should have their faith shaken, mine will not be." ‭‭Mark‬ ‭14:29‬.  Pride goes before a fall, Peter thought better of himself and spoke against what Jesus said.

Can we go against the word of God and deny the Truth that He speaks to us because we think different?  Peter had a lot to learn before he became St Peter, one of them was to accept God's word.  Jesus spoke these words to Peter and He also speaks them to us.  In our hearts we know, by the power of the Holy Spirit, if we are following God's word.

After the cock crowed the third time Peter realized his mistake and regretted it tremendously.  In looking into Jesus's eyes, seeking forgiveness and admitting his sin, he was back on the narrow path.  Pride can very easily take us away from God because "I" thinks he knows better.

What is God saying to me?

Dear Father, we begin another week and I am reminded of my own sinful ways, speak Lord, Your servant is listening.  I thank You Father for revealing truth in Your word.  We live in a world that makes up its own truth and "I" can make truth what "I" want it to be.  Only in Your word is Truth and it can not be denied.  Prayers for souls wandering around in the desert unaware of the danger they are in.  Watch over us this day Father, may our efforts be pleasing to You and may all our actions speak truth, Your Truth.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 13 - The Journey Day 6

Week 13 - The Journey Day 6

"Amen, I say to you, I shall not drink again the fruit of the vine until the day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God."  ‭‭Mark‬ ‭14:25‬

Jesus has spent His life fulfilling His mission of living the word of God, He is the Gospels.  He has prepared His last meal and has received food for the Journey.  On the other side is His new covenant and eternal life for all who believe in Him.  I pondered this valley of tears this morning, the life that we each have that comes with it's joys and it's tears.  I pondered the mystery of the assumption of Mary, the feast day we celebrate today, August 15.

Jesus left us His flesh and His blood that in our joys and our trials we may endure this valley of tears.  We may taste a little bit of Heaven on this side of it, in the Eucharist.  We need the same spiritual food Jesus received to live in this place.  Life without Jesus isn't abundant life, it is a life without true joy, true abundance and true contentment.  "Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you."  ‭‭John‬ ‭6:53

What is Jesus saying to me?  I go before you preparing the way, be attentive to my needs and share the joy that you have received.  It is the new life that I speak about in My word.
Dear Father, I am overwhelmed by the mystery of life and on Your everlasting love that has perfect timing.  I did not always know You until I experienced who You are, it is when I truly began to live.  Show us the way to eternal life Father, open up Your word to us so we may comprehend what it is that You ask of us.  Prayers for a friend going thru the valley of tears with God within him, his journey has not been easy, I pray it is fruitful.  Thank You Lord for our Blessed Mother, for her Immaculate conception and her Blessed assumption into Heaven.  She never tasted sin therefore she never tastes death.  To God be the Glory and the Power forever and ever, Amen.

Week 13 - The Journey Day 4

Week 13 - The Journey Day 4

"And as they reclined at table and were eating, Jesus said, "Amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me, one who is eating with me.""  ‭‭Mark‬ ‭14:18‬

Free will, deliberate sin and blindness.  God listens to the hearts of men and hears the plans they have especially those blind to truth.  Does He interfere with what we intend to do?  He tries to interject and gives us something to think about.  He speaks but do we listen?  Judas didn't let God in, he has his plan in motion, he will defy God which is deliberate sin.  God does not want this for our lives, He sees and feels the pain and suffering it will cause but He also made us in His image with free will, we are free to chose our path.

Judas had to spend a moment or too on thinking about what he was told, what he heard couldn't be from God for that wasn't who God was to him.  God was someone who did what he wanted, he had control and that was his god.  Blind to the truth that looks directly into his eyes.

God speaks to each of us, He gives us the opportunity to listen and He allows us to chose.  Spending time in quiet contemplation, shutting out the world, inviting the Holy Spirit, awakens us to the reality of God and in this relationship He speaks and I listen.  How much different would this world have been if Judas would of heard God speak to him.  Do not be blind to the situation you are in, invite God in as well, He already knows, just needs us to respond to His voice.

What is God saying to me?  Be deliberate and take your time today.  I am with you and in you, no harm can fall upon you that was not meant to be.

Dear Father, help us hear the Holy Spirit and be active to Him.  Bless this day with the fruits of our labor, You have prepared me for the day.  In my heart, I have heard You speak, I have learned from the mistake of sin from another who was blind to You.   I see a world who turns a blind eye to You and is enticed by the allure of sin.  Awaken us to the reality of what it causes not only to us and those we love but also to You as You were being scourged at the pillar making reparations on our behalf.  I pray for a friend who has gotten into some difficulties because of an easy way, help him overcome his own choices with Your Divine assistance.  I ask this in the name of Jesus, the One who saves, Amen.

Week 13 - The Journey Day 2

Week 13 - The Journey Day 2

"Amen, I say to you, wherever the gospel is proclaimed to the whole world, what she has done will be told in memory of her." ‭‭Mark‬ ‭14:9‬

We have all heard about the woman who anointed Jesus before His crucifixion and death.  What about her anointing?  She had been anointed by God, she has thrown caution to the wind and acts boldly.  She has encountered Christ, the Son of living God, she is anointed with the Holy Spirit.  How else do you explain her actions and preparing Jesus for burial.  Did she know Jesus was going to die?  I don't believe so, she followed her heart and did what she thought she should.

We too in our own daily lives have that sense that we should move upon something or not move on something, this is the prompting of the Holy Spirit.  In a sense you are anointed by God to act, now the choice is yours, do I throw caution to the wind, do I act boldly and decisive?  We may never know the outcome of our actions but God knows the heart and in these steps of obedience you will be strengthened.  Listen to the promptings of God in your heart, you won't get your story in the Bible, you won't be remembered in history but you will be remembered in the book of life where it matters most.  Live an anointed life.

Dear Father, another blessed morning in Your presence, to see You at work in our every day circumstances and then to use Your anointed servant to make sense of what You call us to do, which is to unite.  Prayers for a world that is caught up in division, help us look to the cross and see the unity that binds us all together.  I ask this in Jesus name, thru the power of the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

What is God saying to me? Listen for My guidance and My word for you.  The world seeks to divide and conquer, I seek to unite all with me, it is the anointed that hear Me speak because of the Love in their hearts.

Week 13 - The Journey Day 1

Week 13 - The Journey Day 1

"Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away."  Mark‬ ‭13:30-31‬

Jesus is preparing for His coming crucifixion as well as preparing us in how we are to live.  As you read Mark 13, read it from the perspective of Jesus living in perfect harmony with God.  He is perfect and therefore knows what is coming and is living in the resurrection.  His written words speak to Him as Son of Man.  King David lived in the same way, in the resurrection even though Jesus hadn't been born yet.  His relationship with God had been perfected.

Are we to live in fear of the coming tribulations?  No, Jesus didn't live in fear.  Are we to live in fear of what could happen to us in these times due to illness?  No, just as Jesus lives in the knowledge of knowing He who created you is greater than anything else.  Live in the resurrection, we can focus on the physical calamity but I believe Jesus tells us to live in the spirit.

May God's blessings be upon you today, you are loved by Him.

What is God saying to me?  You can live in the physical and allow it to dictate to you or as My Son Jesus speaks about.  You can live in My presence and fear not the coming wrath of man.  Do not fear what can kill the flesh, fear that which can kill the spirit.  (this is holy fear)

Dear Lord, You fill my heart with Your love, I feel the warmth and the joy that You bring into this place where You are welcomed.  I thank You for telling us how to live, in giving us hope in our days.  I thank You for addressing our concerns and giving us the example of Your only Son.  I thank You for revealing truth in harmony when we are willing to sit and visit.  Prayers for families struggling with this world, help them see the joy that is in Your face.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 13 - The Journey Day 1

Week 13 - The Journey Day 1

"Calling his disciples to himself, he said to them, "Amen, I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the other contributors to the treasury. For they have all contributed from their surplus wealth, but she, from her poverty, has contributed all she had, her whole livelihood.""  ‭‭Mark‬ ‭12:43-44‬

The Journey into the heart of God happens a little each day when we sit at His feet.  In reading His word and contemplate what He speaks, Jesus teaches what the Church teaches.  The widow woman gave all, her faith wasn't on her abilities, her talent, her possessions, her little, it was on God.  "Jesus replied, "The first is this: 'Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is Lord alone! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.'"  ‭‭Mark‬ ‭12:29-30‬

Without total confidence in God, the widow woman could not give all, this doesn't happen overnight.  Her poverty was from the worlds viewpoint, her wealth is God so her knowledge is her needs will be met.  In our own lives, this is God's message, not to give from our access but to give from our all out of love and trust that God has it all under control.  Trust in God, love Him with all your heart, all your soul and all your mind.  You will not get to Heaven with half hearted effort nor a lack of knowledge of who God is - in your life.

What is God saying to me?  Keep on, the canvas is being painted.  The blessings of this day will shine true.

Dear Father, I am blessed beyond measure to sit at Your feet.  Your Word feeds my spirit, it is louder than all the distractions of this world.  Father, I see You at work, I see things coming together, I see a harvest coming.  Give us the wisdom of the widow woman, total confidence in You.  Your Saints have total confidence, and so shall we.  Prayers for a family experiencing loss, thank You for walking with them on the Villa DeLaRosa.  Prayers for a family being asked to trust in You with the little they have.  I ask this in Jesus name. amen.

Week 12 - The Journey Day 7

Week 12 - The Journey Day 7

"Jesus said to them in reply, "Have faith in God. Amen, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it shall be done for him."  ‭‭Mark‬ ‭11:22-23‬

Let's set the stage for what Jesus said: He has just rode into Jerusalem on a colt, the people celebrated their coming king from a worldly viewpoint not seeing God as King.  Jesus will fulfill what He wrote throughout history and from outer appearances it will not look good.  But the most powerful words and actions He gives us is:"Have faith in God."

Reading His word, listening to His stories this is the message in all that He says, have faith in Him.  When we are weak, He is strong.  The people want answers and God is the answer.  It is His power that operates within the Son of Man.  You are a son or daughter of the Great King, believe in what He says and go do it.  We live in a world filled with doubt and chaos, just as in the time of Jesus.
Jesus moved about in authority, that which was given Him by His Father.  You have that same authority available to you!  Speak life, live in faith, trust in God.  No matter your circumstance come to know how much you are loved.  What He says will happen, be on the winning side and live IN faith.

What is God saying to me?

Dear Father, I pray for strength for Your warriors Lord, I pray for ears to hear and eyes to see, I pray for a holy fear of You Lord.  You are mighty God and when we come to You, You answer prayer, You take the little that we offer and multiply it to bring about Your kingdom.  In our tribulations Lord, help us see Jesus walking with us.  In our trials, give us peace when we turn to You in prayer.  Prayers for an unspoken prayer, I trust in You Lord, even in this You are at work.  Bless souls with ever lasting life with You.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 12 - The Journey Day 6

Week 12 - The Journey Day 6

"Jesus said, "Amen, I say to you, there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for my sake and for the sake of the gospel who will not receive a hundred times more now in this present age: houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and eternal life in the age to come."   ‭‭Mark‬ ‭10:29-30‬

"What must I do to inherit eternal life?" was the question that Jesus was asked.  Is there anything I can do?  God will ask, He will exact a price that will require sacrifice, it will go to the heart of what holds us back.  But in our response and God's faithfulness, what is given up will be returned with so much more.

Abraham was asked to sacrifice his son, he prepared for that day and Abraham gave up his son.  He loved and trusted God that much that whatever was asked he was willing to do.  Jesus responds to the disciples when they said they have given up family to follow Christ.    "Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God!" ‭‭Mark‬ ‭10:24‬

What are you holding onto that God knows will challenge your faith, that will exact a price that will make you think.  When you get to the place that no matter what God asks of you, you know that there is something better, Heaven and with faith you move upon His ask, you are in the kingdom of God for He is King and ruler of your world.  Your actions say so.

What is God saying to me?

Dear Lord, You know us better than we know ourselves.  You know what holds us back and what needs purification to enter eternity with You.  Purify me Lord in this world so we can be together in the next.  I see You at work within as we Journey together, continue to increase my faith as You did with Abraham.  He knew that Your love was greater than Your ask, help me get to this place.  Prayers for a world dependent upon Your mercy.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 12 - The Journey Day 5

Week 12 - The Journey Day 5

"Amen, I say to you, whoever does not accept the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it." ‭‭Mark‬ ‭10:15‬

I am struck by Jesus being indignant because of His disciples trying to prevent the children from coming to Him.  It makes me wonder is there a right way or wrong way to come to Christ?  Obviously the disciples did not recognize what was going on, they were trying to protect God, like He needs protection.

I also noticed their parents desire for their children to be touched by Him so they brought them to Christ.  The children were following their parents wishes and were completely open to the invitation.  They neither knew a right way or wrong way, they just did.

I think about my own prejudices, do I impose my will upon another that is being drawn to Christ?  Do I know better because I think I am a learned man?  Jesus cautions us to not be like that, we are to be child like in all of our actions.  If God is calling them, then who am I to stand in the way.  Being drawn to Christ happens in small movements or large movements, in either case it is God calling them to Him.  Encourage, do not discourage, it gives God righteous indignation.

What is God saying to me?  With Love all things are possible even for man.

Dear Father, you are always drawing us to You, we are to listen with child like faith and allow Love to penetrate the hardness of our hearts.   Only You know how to touch us and how to do it that accomplishes Your will for our lives.  Thank You Father for the blessing of our new priest and his faithfulness to the body, blood, soul and divinity of the Eucharist.  Bless his ministry Lord as He draws us closer to You.  I ask this in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Week 12 - The Journey Day 3

Week 12 - The Journey Day 3 The feast of the Transfiguration.

"Anyone who gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ, amen, I say to you, will surely not lose his reward."  ‭‭Mark‬ ‭9:41‬

"I thirst", these are the words that God put in my thoughts, the words that Jesus spoke while on the cross.  "Then the righteous will answer him and say, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?' And the king will say to them in reply, 'Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.'"  ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭25:37-40‬

We are the body of Christ, we live in the resurrection, we live with Christ transfigured within us.  When Christ saw another in need He reached out with what ever He had.  So those that are in need of a drink are easy to spot, their spirit says "I thirst", just as Jesus hung on the cross and thirsted for our salvation.  You are His hands, You are His body, You are His voice and You are His feet, He thirsts!

What is God saying to me? "This is my beloved Son. Listen to him." Mark‬ ‭9:7‬b

Dear Father, we live in a thirsty world, looking for their tongue to be quenched, looking for a ray of Hope.  You are the water that we need so we will never thirst again, You are the well spring of life that never runs out.  Father I may not be much but what I am belongs to You.  May this constant drip serve You well, may I see the need and may I respond to Your voice when You cry out.  Thank You Father for another day to go do what You ask of me.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Week 12 - The Journey Day 2

Week 12 - The Journey Day 2

"He also said to them, "Amen, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see that the kingdom of God has come in power." ‭‭Mark‬ ‭9:1‬

Are you waiting for the kingdom of God or are you living it?  What does Jesus say about the kingdom of God?  ""This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel." ‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:15. He then went and picked His first disciples after He said this so Jesus was living the kingdom of His Father.

What else does Jesus say about the kingdom of God?  "Asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, he said in reply, "The coming of the kingdom of God cannot be observed,". ‭‭Luke‬ ‭17:20‬.  It isn't an object or physical place, is what I understand.  "and no one will announce, 'Look, here it is,' or, 'There it is.' For behold, the kingdom of God is among you." ‭‭Luke‬ ‭17:21‬.  Another translation for "among you" is "within".

What about "has come in power", a future action.  When did Jesus come into power completely?  When did humanity know He truly is God, body, soul and divinity?  The Resurrection!  Ok so now what about those who are listening to Jesus and will not taste death until it comes.  We can't observe it, we know we are in it when we are in it.  "For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power." ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭4:20‬.  Have you experienced Christ's resurrection?  Are you walking in the power of God and not your own?  Have you laid down your life and taken up His?

I need reminded each day in God's word to live within the kingdom for there is a battle raging for our souls.  I do not want to taste death and know that Jesus overcame death on the cross.  "When everything is subjected to him, then the Son himself will [also] be subjected to the one who subjected everything to him, so that God may be all in all." ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:28‬

What is God saying to me?

Dear Father, we walked together this morning in this lesson, You spoke and I listened.  I asked questions and You answered.  You are within, You are greater than all of my own challenges and I chose to live within the kingdom yet You chose me for this and not I that chose You.   Lord You knocked and I answered, help us recognize Your knock, it can be anything from a quiet knock to a heavy knock of us facing our own mortality that is necessary for us to enter the kingdom.  You have filled me with words this morning Lord as You are orchestrating my life.  Thank You Father for another faith filled morning painted in many different ways.  Prayers for those fighting Covid, lift this from them as You are giving us faith in You.  Prayers for those fighting spiritual battles, strengthen them in our victories thru Your resurrection.  In the end Father, You triumphant so we can live with You and in You forever.  Amen.

Week 12 - The Journey Day 1

Week 12 - The Journey Day 1

"He sighed from the depth of his spirit and said, "Why does this generation seek a sign? Amen, I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation.""  ‭‭Mark‬ ‭8:12‬

Jesus is the Son of God, He performs miracle after miracle and yet they come and ask for a sign.  I can see Jesus from the depth of His spirit as true man exhale their unbelief.  Would another sign make them believe?

The Israelites out in the desert grumbled against God seeking saved yet they had been saved.  Their unbelief cost that generation entry into the promised land, it was the next generation that entered.

Do you seek a sign today?  Would you ask Jesus for a sign of His divinity?  Just like in the time of Jesus the signs are there, you do not need to ask if you would open your eyes and see the glory of God before you.  Is this why Jesus signed from His depths, no matter what God did they are still blind?  "For those who believe, no proof is necessary. For those who don't believe, no proof is possible."

What is God saying to me?  I give you Jesus, My only Son, what more is needed?

Dear Lord, I see You sigh deeply and feel the depth of Your spirit.  No matter what You do some are so hardened of heart that they miss the Joy of Your spirit.  Yet this do not deter You from pushing on, for showing the depth of Your Father's love.  I see You reach out in ways that communicates that love, the signs of Your love are all around us sometimes standing in silence in hopes of us hearing You.  I pray Father for this generation that seeks signs but misses You, awaken our senses to the depths of Your love for us.  Help us see when we are blind.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 11 - The Journey Day 7

Week 11 - The Journey Day 7

"Amen, I say to you, all sins and all blasphemies that people utter will be forgiven them."  ‭‭Mark‬ ‭3:28‬

Jesus speaks of a house divided against itself prior to this.  If all sins and all blasphemies are forgiven except one what is sin?  CCC 1850 Sin is an offense against God: "Against you, you alone, have I sinned, and done that which is evil in your sight."122 Sin sets itself against God's love for us and turns our hearts away from it. Like the first sin, it is disobedience, a revolt against God through the will to become "like gods,"123 knowing and determining good and evil. Sin is thus "love of oneself even to contempt of God."124 In this proud self- exaltation, sin is diametrically opposed to the obedience of Jesus, which achieves our salvation.125

Sin divides us from God and His will.  In order to be forgiven we first must recognize that it is sin otherwise we are in the camp of the evil one doing his bidding.  Look at our culture today the lines are so blurred that many do not recognize sin, they have bought the lie so their actions can be justified.  If you don't believe you are sinning do you need forgiveness?  Jesus challenges us to examine ourselves compared to His perfect nature, can we invite Jesus into the conversation and listen as He explains a house divided against itself.

"But whoever blasphemes against the holy Spirit will never have forgiveness, but is guilty of an everlasting sin.""  Mark‬ ‭3:29‬.  Blasphemes against the Holy Spirit is not seeking repentance for in the hardness of your heart you are not sinning when in fact you are.  Jesus recognizes sin, the scribes accused Jesus of working with beelzebul when it was them working with beelzebul.  Sound familiar, good is evil and evil is good?

We have to recognize our own actions and invite Jesus into the conversation, He will examine your heart, you might as well soften it now or risk eternity in a place no one wants to go but many will choose by ignoring Truth.
What is God saying to me?

Dear Father, those same scribes walk amongst us today ignoring truth and seeking to entrap us in the lies of the day.  Help us examine ourselves, give us a repentant heart and help us seek Your forgiveness.  Lord, renew our minds with Your Truth, open up Your perfect will for us.  Thank You Father of all that You are doing in our lives.  Thank You Father for Your protective hand that guides us to everlasting happiness.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 11 - The Journey Day 6

Week 11 - The Journey Day 6

"When you give alms, do not blow a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets to win the praise of others. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward." Matthew‬ ‭6:2‬

Jesus contrast two types of people, those who want recognized by others and those recognized by God.  They both get what they desire except ones reward isn't received from God.  Jesus challenges the teachers of His day who stand against God holding themselves up as examples.  They want recognition, they want reward now, they feed themselves with their good deeds.

Jesus goes on to tell us: "But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right is doing, so that your almsgiving may be secret. And your Father who sees in secret will repay you."  Matthew‬ ‭6:3-4‬.  God sees all and nothing goes beyond His sight.  Our treasure is not here, it is in Heaven and our works of mercy should be done for God and not mammon.

What is God saying to me?  Give of yourself and do not count the reward, I see all especially the heart.

Dear Lord God, You know the depths of our love and You know if it serves Your glory or our own selfish desires.  You know our nature Lord and it's weaknesses, give us strength to overcome our own needs.  Give us a love greater than all our needs that goes beyond self.  May we see others as You see them and may we give as You freely give.  Bless this week Father, thank You for the blessings of this past week, You are mighty God who hears the cry of the poor.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 11 - The Journey Day 5

Week 11 - The Journey Day 5

"Amen, I say to you, you will not be released until you have paid the last penny."  ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:26‬

I contemplate Jesus's words, specifically payment.  Can I pay the price for my misdeeds?  I can make amends for them but I can not pay the price for no slave is greater than his Master.  Jesus refers to payment in the parable of the workers in the vineyard, those that come early in the day and at the end of the day are paid the same price.  Their work, doing the will of the Father, pays the same, salvation.

"Settle with your opponent quickly while on the way to court with him. Otherwise your opponent will hand you over to the judge, and the judge will hand you over to the guard, and you will be thrown into prison." ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:25‬.  Who is our opponent?  "Be sober and vigilant. Your opponent the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion looking for [someone] to devour." ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:8‬

We live at a time that if we are not careful, we can be lulled to sleep and completely miss the opportunity to settle with our opponent.  Jesus seeks our souls and seeks our hearts, in speaking of payment, He knows we can not pay the price but He wants us to come to Him and live within a Covenant relationship where we are participating with Christ and not working against Him.   Once the jail cell doors close, unless we know God and are honestly making amends for our sins by working in the vineyard, we risk our eternal soul to our opponent.  Listen to Jesus, obey His voice and live in freedom no matter your earthly tolls.

What is God saying to me?  Your lives are examples to others, it speaks of your belief in My existence.  I exist and have always been but those that look to you are following your example.  The vineyard is your everyday life, are you avoiding sin or creating chaos?  Little eyes are watching and so am I.  I Am the judge, and your life is payment, consecrate yourself to Me.

Dear Father, I sit and watch, I see what you see and at times it hurts knowing what is possible with a willing heart.  I pray for our future Lord, I pray for those looking for the  easy way falling victim to the opponent.  I see You standing with arms wide open in hopes of another to come to the vineyard and till the ground.  Father our lives are but a bleep in time but have huge consequences for our eternity.   Keep us on the narrow path with willing hearts and open minds.  I thank You Father for healing all those suffering from some form of sickness.  Help us become docile and submissive to Your will as Jesus did.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
