Week 11 - The Journey Day 5
"Amen, I say to you, you will not be released until you have paid the last penny." Matthew 5:26
I contemplate Jesus's words, specifically payment. Can I pay the price for my misdeeds? I can make amends for them but I can not pay the price for no slave is greater than his Master. Jesus refers to payment in the parable of the workers in the vineyard, those that come early in the day and at the end of the day are paid the same price. Their work, doing the will of the Father, pays the same, salvation.
"Settle with your opponent quickly while on the way to court with him. Otherwise your opponent will hand you over to the judge, and the judge will hand you over to the guard, and you will be thrown into prison." Matthew 5:25. Who is our opponent? "Be sober and vigilant. Your opponent the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion looking for [someone] to devour." 1 Peter 5:8
We live at a time that if we are not careful, we can be lulled to sleep and completely miss the opportunity to settle with our opponent. Jesus seeks our souls and seeks our hearts, in speaking of payment, He knows we can not pay the price but He wants us to come to Him and live within a Covenant relationship where we are participating with Christ and not working against Him. Once the jail cell doors close, unless we know God and are honestly making amends for our sins by working in the vineyard, we risk our eternal soul to our opponent. Listen to Jesus, obey His voice and live in freedom no matter your earthly tolls.
What is God saying to me? Your lives are examples to others, it speaks of your belief in My existence. I exist and have always been but those that look to you are following your example. The vineyard is your everyday life, are you avoiding sin or creating chaos? Little eyes are watching and so am I. I Am the judge, and your life is payment, consecrate yourself to Me.
Dear Father, I sit and watch, I see what you see and at times it hurts knowing what is possible with a willing heart. I pray for our future Lord, I pray for those looking for the easy way falling victim to the opponent. I see You standing with arms wide open in hopes of another to come to the vineyard and till the ground. Father our lives are but a bleep in time but have huge consequences for our eternity. Keep us on the narrow path with willing hearts and open minds. I thank You Father for healing all those suffering from some form of sickness. Help us become docile and submissive to Your will as Jesus did. I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
