Week 11 - The Journey Day 7
"Amen, I say to you, all sins and all blasphemies that people utter will be forgiven them." Mark 3:28
Jesus speaks of a house divided against itself prior to this. If all sins and all blasphemies are forgiven except one what is sin? CCC 1850 Sin is an offense against God: "Against you, you alone, have I sinned, and done that which is evil in your sight."122 Sin sets itself against God's love for us and turns our hearts away from it. Like the first sin, it is disobedience, a revolt against God through the will to become "like gods,"123 knowing and determining good and evil. Sin is thus "love of oneself even to contempt of God."124 In this proud self- exaltation, sin is diametrically opposed to the obedience of Jesus, which achieves our salvation.125
Sin divides us from God and His will. In order to be forgiven we first must recognize that it is sin otherwise we are in the camp of the evil one doing his bidding. Look at our culture today the lines are so blurred that many do not recognize sin, they have bought the lie so their actions can be justified. If you don't believe you are sinning do you need forgiveness? Jesus challenges us to examine ourselves compared to His perfect nature, can we invite Jesus into the conversation and listen as He explains a house divided against itself.
"But whoever blasphemes against the holy Spirit will never have forgiveness, but is guilty of an everlasting sin."" Mark 3:29. Blasphemes against the Holy Spirit is not seeking repentance for in the hardness of your heart you are not sinning when in fact you are. Jesus recognizes sin, the scribes accused Jesus of working with beelzebul when it was them working with beelzebul. Sound familiar, good is evil and evil is good?
We have to recognize our own actions and invite Jesus into the conversation, He will examine your heart, you might as well soften it now or risk eternity in a place no one wants to go but many will choose by ignoring Truth.
What is God saying to me?
Dear Father, those same scribes walk amongst us today ignoring truth and seeking to entrap us in the lies of the day. Help us examine ourselves, give us a repentant heart and help us seek Your forgiveness. Lord, renew our minds with Your Truth, open up Your perfect will for us. Thank You Father of all that You are doing in our lives. Thank You Father for Your protective hand that guides us to everlasting happiness. I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
