Week 12 - The Journey Day 5
"Amen, I say to you, whoever does not accept the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it." Mark 10:15
I am struck by Jesus being indignant because of His disciples trying to prevent the children from coming to Him. It makes me wonder is there a right way or wrong way to come to Christ? Obviously the disciples did not recognize what was going on, they were trying to protect God, like He needs protection.
I also noticed their parents desire for their children to be touched by Him so they brought them to Christ. The children were following their parents wishes and were completely open to the invitation. They neither knew a right way or wrong way, they just did.
I think about my own prejudices, do I impose my will upon another that is being drawn to Christ? Do I know better because I think I am a learned man? Jesus cautions us to not be like that, we are to be child like in all of our actions. If God is calling them, then who am I to stand in the way. Being drawn to Christ happens in small movements or large movements, in either case it is God calling them to Him. Encourage, do not discourage, it gives God righteous indignation.
What is God saying to me? With Love all things are possible even for man.
Dear Father, you are always drawing us to You, we are to listen with child like faith and allow Love to penetrate the hardness of our hearts. Only You know how to touch us and how to do it that accomplishes Your will for our lives. Thank You Father for the blessing of our new priest and his faithfulness to the body, blood, soul and divinity of the Eucharist. Bless his ministry Lord as He draws us closer to You. I ask this in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Mary, Mother of God, pray for us.
St Joesph, Protector of the Holy Family, Pray for us.
