Week 12 - The Journey Day 2
"He also said to them, "Amen, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see that the kingdom of God has come in power." Mark 9:1
Are you waiting for the kingdom of God or are you living it? What does Jesus say about the kingdom of God? ""This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel." Mark 1:15. He then went and picked His first disciples after He said this so Jesus was living the kingdom of His Father.
What else does Jesus say about the kingdom of God? "Asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, he said in reply, "The coming of the kingdom of God cannot be observed,". Luke 17:20. It isn't an object or physical place, is what I understand. "and no one will announce, 'Look, here it is,' or, 'There it is.' For behold, the kingdom of God is among you." Luke 17:21. Another translation for "among you" is "within".
What about "has come in power", a future action. When did Jesus come into power completely? When did humanity know He truly is God, body, soul and divinity? The Resurrection! Ok so now what about those who are listening to Jesus and will not taste death until it comes. We can't observe it, we know we are in it when we are in it. "For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power." 1 Corinthians 4:20. Have you experienced Christ's resurrection? Are you walking in the power of God and not your own? Have you laid down your life and taken up His?
I need reminded each day in God's word to live within the kingdom for there is a battle raging for our souls. I do not want to taste death and know that Jesus overcame death on the cross. "When everything is subjected to him, then the Son himself will [also] be subjected to the one who subjected everything to him, so that God may be all in all." 1 Corinthians 15:28
What is God saying to me?
Dear Father, we walked together this morning in this lesson, You spoke and I listened. I asked questions and You answered. You are within, You are greater than all of my own challenges and I chose to live within the kingdom yet You chose me for this and not I that chose You. Lord You knocked and I answered, help us recognize Your knock, it can be anything from a quiet knock to a heavy knock of us facing our own mortality that is necessary for us to enter the kingdom. You have filled me with words this morning Lord as You are orchestrating my life. Thank You Father for another faith filled morning painted in many different ways. Prayers for those fighting Covid, lift this from them as You are giving us faith in You. Prayers for those fighting spiritual battles, strengthen them in our victories thru Your resurrection. In the end Father, You triumphant so we can live with You and in You forever. Amen.
Mary, Mother of All, Pray for us.
