"Though I thought I had toiled in vain, for nothing and for naught spent my strength, Yet my right is with the LORD, my recompense is with my God. For now the LORD has spoken who formed me as his servant from the womb, That Jacob may be brought back to him and Israel gathered to him; I am honored in the sight of the LORD, and my God is now my strength!" Isaiah 49:4-5
Do we honor God by obeying Him? How many of us see ourselves as servants of God? Surely God doesn't expect me to be His servant? Was Jesus not your servant when He died on the cross for our sins. God gives us freedom to choose our path but real happiness is found when we honor God by being obedient to Him, listening and following. Zechariah learned the hard way that by not accepting what God tells him, he lost his voice for a period of time. He only regained it when he became obedient: "He asked for a tablet and wrote, "John is his name," and all were amazed. Immediately his mouth was opened, his tongue freed, and he spoke blessing God." Luke 1:63-64. You may not believe these stories in the bible are for you but they were written just for you. They apply to our everyday lives. Is God Your strength, if so then honor Him by being obedient to what He asks of you.
What is God saying to me: Will you be my servant today?
Dear Father, you know the answer is yes. When I fall Father, help me get back up, help me see what I need to see to become the servant that You desire. You are my strength God and I thank You for that gift of strength, even when I am weak, You are strong. I pray for all those who have lost their voice, may they see the beauty of the scripture and how it is real for them. You are amazing God and I am blessed to have the opportunity to sit with you each day. I thank You for the day that lays ahead. I ask this in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Mary, Our Lady of Good Counsel, pray for us.
