Christmas 2019 - The Gift of Christmas

"On that day, The branch of the LORD will be beauty and glory, and the fruit of the land will be honor and splendor for the survivors of Israel." ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭4:2‬

Christmas 2019 - The Gift of the Lord.  What is forming you?  Is your life being fed the nutrients that God gives?  Mary and Joesph lived holy lives by allowing God to guide them and give them peace.  They had to escape Herod to protect Jesus, we too must protect Jesus in our lives.  This is done just as Mary and Joesph did, by contemplating God's Word and following His direction.  A tree gets wiped about during a wind storm, as long as it is firmly planted it will grow into a mighty tree.  You as well will be wiped about don't let life beat you up by not having a firm foundation.  Be a survivor of Israel, get your nourishment from God not the world.

What is God saying to me: You are on a new path, still the same direction as before.

Dear Father, You know the people who You have placed within my thoughts, one I don't even know but You are calling out to them.  I pray they are being fed by Your word, I pray that they are counted among the survivors.  I ask our Blessed Mother to watch over them and to intervene in their family situation, a mother always knows what to do.  Thank You Lord for Your gifts and for this time, may the coming year bare much fruit for Your kingdom.   Prayers for a friend receiving chemo today, may his new year be filled with hope as he walks with You.   I ask this in the name above ever other name, Jesus Christ, Amen.

Christmas 2019 - A call to holiness

"he has now reconciled in his fleshly body through his death, to present you holy, without blemish, and irreproachable before him, provided that you persevere in the faith, firmly grounded, stable, and not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, am a minister. Christ in Us." ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭1:22-23‬

Christmas 2019 - a call to holiness.  Have you stopped and pondered why did God send His Son down to earth?  So you could be made holy, the sin of Adam and Eve needed to be removed.  We needed to be made without blemish and without fault.  Jesus does that for us but we must also hold up our end.  Mary and Joesph had to persevere in their trials, they had to continue on their journey to the Father.  Holiness isn't acting all pious and mightier than though, the Pharisees did that.  Holiness is doing the next right thing and continuing doing what is right each time, to persevere in the faith, You are called to holiness.

What is God saying to me: Listen to My voice and be made holy by My Son, the hope of your salvation.

Dear Father, it has been a beautiful morning with Your encouragement.  I thank You for those that you sent with the message of holiness.   It is You that forms us by Your Holy Spirit if we would but listen.  Prayers for those struggling to persevere may they be given hope to accept the trials as unwanted gifts, but gifts nonetheless.  Thank You for preparing me for the day, may we go together through out what it has to offer.  Prayers for a friend that is in my thoughts, a holy man who is persevering.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Mary, Queen of Saints, Pray for us.

Christmas 2020 - the feast of the Holy Family.

"When they had departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, "Rise, take the child and his mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you. Herod is going to search for the child to destroy him." Joseph rose and took the child and his mother by night and departed for Egypt. He stayed there until the death of Herod, that what the Lord had said through the prophet might be fulfilled, "Out of Egypt I called my son." Matthew‬ ‭2:13-15‬

The role of the father - you see Joesph honoring God by obeying His direction.  His obedience is forming and fulfilling scripture.  As a father, I have the same choices to make, will I honor God and allow God to form His children.  I could of very easily ignored the prompting of God and gone back to sleep this morning but I didn't.  Spending time together as a family, recognizing God's promptings is honoring God and fulfilling our role as fathers.  The choices we make impact the futures of our children and our children's children.  Be the example and obey the will of God.

What is God saying to me: I awoke you for a reason and you listened, be blessed today, surrounded by love.

Dear Father, I am blessed to be able to recognize and respond to Your call.   You give each of us holy examples of family life that is passed on, help us recognize our roles within the family.  Protect the family Lord by Your promptings and our response.  You are calling many out of Egypt not just the child Jesus.  Awake My children and respond to your calling, little eyes are watching.  Prayers for the family, especially those that are under attack, may St Joesph be our protector.   In Jesus name, Amen.

Christmas 2020 - Our act of faith

"But when the kindness and generous love of God our savior appeared, not because of any righteous deeds we had done but because of his mercy, he saved us through the bath of rebirth and renewal by the holy Spirit, whom he richly poured out on us through Jesus Christ our savior, so that we might be justified by his grace and become heirs in hope of eternal life." ‭‭Titus‬ ‭3:4-7‬

Our acts of faith.  I enjoy the Church being full this time of year, all those coming to celebrate the birth of Christ.  I often wonder why is it not like that the rest of the year, why do they not continue to come?  But even still they come with anticipation during Christmas and Easter.  If they only knew the real presence of God, if they could continue these small acts of faith by just showing up.  I understand how busy life is and having other priorities but if we are to be renewed by the Holy Spirit, we have to show up.  When you realize that Christ is missing in your life, and the hope that we each receive during Christmas is greater than anything else, they will show up until then the world still has a stronger hold.  A simple act of faith - show up weekly.

What is God saying to me:

Dear Father, i thank You for this day, I thank You for the desire to know You more and for drawing me closer.  Watch over us Lord, keep us safe and encourage more simple acts of faith throughout the year.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Christmas 2020

"For the grace of God has appeared, saving all and training us to reject godless ways and worldly desires and to live temperately, justly, and devoutly in this age, as we await the blessed hope, the appearance of the glory of the great God and of our savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to deliver us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for himself a people as his own, eager to do what is good." ‭‭Titus‬ ‭2:11-14‬

Perfection, how do we attain it here?  Not sure we really can but the closer we come to follow Christ, the right order of things brings us closer.  Life has ways of throwing us curve balls and it is not perfect, not anything that you expected but in following Jesus each day, you are at peace.  You are being trained for the here and now as well as for eternity.  This Christmas may of not turned out as you expected, maybe it was chaotic, maybe things have changed this year over last, far from perfect.  But through it all, with the joy of Christ in your heart, it is a life given by God.  Our godless ways and worldly desires can steer us off track but with Christ as the North Star, you will regain that peace.  The birth of Christ is only the beginning.

What is God saying to me: You see what I see, continue on the journey, Heaven is perfection.

Dear Father, it is You that puts me at different places and times to see.  I thank You for the Star of Bethlehem making His presence known in my life otherwise things could of turned out differently.  As we continue to journey this Christmas with you, enflame our hearts to nurture the gift of joy that You have given.  It is much like a new born that needs nurtured and cared for.  Thank You Father for the graces that You provide each day, I thank You for the traditions of the Catholic Church that reminds us of what is important for a holy life.  Bless this day and time spent with family.  Prayers for those missing loved ones,  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Christmas Day 2019

"You shall be a glorious crown in the hand of the LORD, a royal diadem in the hand of your God. No more shall you be called "Forsaken," nor your land called "Desolate," But you shall be called "My Delight is in her," and your land "Espoused." For the LORD delights in you, and your land shall be espoused." Isaiah‬ ‭62:3-4‬

Christmas Day - A Fathers love.  Have you ever pondered the giver of the gift?  The time spent in searching out for the right gift.  The ways in which it is given and not always knowing in how it will be received.  The sacrifice that goes into the gift, the personal touches to make it just right.  This morning many houses are opening up gifts.  Our Heavenly Father gave us the greatest gift, knowing that He would be rejected, knowing that we must freely choose Him.  Knowing that the greatest joy awaits those that do.  The gift of God goes beyond our comprehension and it never stops giving.  Have a blessed Christmas day, whether alone or in company, you are always surrounded by love from above, He gives the best Gift for He delights in you.

What is God saying to me: enjoy your morning, My Son awaits His return.

Dear Father, I thank You for the Gift of Christmas, I thank our Blessed Mother who willingly and freely participated in the Gift along with her husband Joesph.  Being in Your covenant family is the best part of this day.  Thank You for the excitement and anticipation and the pondering this morning Father, You never stop giving when we seek You and the truth.  Bless this day Father, help little ones not be come over stimulated and fill them with the joy of the day.  May I carry the Gift with ease, humility and peace into the world that has yet to receive the greatest Gift.  Merry Christmas Father! Amen.

Mart, Mother of Jesus, Pray for us.

Luke Chapter 24, Advent Day 24

"Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures. And he said to them, "Thus it is written that the Messiah would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day and that repentance, for the forgiveness of sins, would be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things." ‭‭Luke‬ ‭24:45-48‬

Advent Day 24 - His story will be told.  We have journeyed far with Christ this advent.  Knowing who Christ is and journeying with Him on the way is the best part of Christmas, this year.  Jesus is clear in what He tells us, His story and that of His Father would be preached to all nations.  Each of us has the gift of telling a story in our own unique way.  When the opportunity arises, don't turn away but step out on faith and give the greatest gift.  How the story is received is not ours to be concerned about.  Give the gift of Christmas to a lost and weary traveler.  Our days of preparation are almost over, tomorrow we celebrate the birth of Christ, may each of us be renewed by the Spirit of Christ, Merry Christmas!

What is God saying to me: (Thank You)

Dear Father, each day is a new day, You see all of my days and You know me like no other.  I trust in You as we walk on the way, help me see and live the gospels of Your Son Jesus.  May His strength flow through me all the time and speak of the joy in my heart.  Thank You for journeying with us this Advent season, help us see the joy of life and the hope of eternity.  Prayers for a family who buried a daughter, a mother, a wife yesterday, may the love of Christ fill their hearts in knowing they will meet again.  Bless this day Father, give us endurance as we run the race, in Jesus name, Amen.

Luke Chapter 23, Advent Day 23

"After he had taken the body down, he wrapped it in a linen cloth and laid him in a rock-hewn tomb in which no one had yet been buried." ‭‭Luke‬ ‭23:53‬

"And this will be a sign for you: you will find an infant wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger."" ‭‭Luke‬ ‭2:12‬

Advent Day 23 - The Greatest story of all time.  I contemplate the life and death of our Lord Jesus Christ and His journey.  In a few days the entire world will celebrate His Birthday, Christmas.  Some deny it ever happened yet it will be celebrated.  God through the will of a woman who said yes, entered the world as a man, with nothing but love.  He leaves pretty much the same way with the will of a man to accept his fate and do the will of the Father and love for his Messiah.  We all enter this world the same and we will all leave being clothed by someone else.  What you do in between is what matters most.  With Christ it has purpose, this is the greatest gift that we can receive and we can give away.  Receive the gift of Christ, contemplate His Words, be a student of His Holy Spirit.  The world who denies Him has yet to meet Him!

What is God saying to me:  Walk slowly, be patient as I Am.

Dear Father, I am not sure why we waited today to sit together but I love our time together, contemplating Your Word Lord brings life into my spirit.  There is so much going on around yet the time together is a blessing.  Thank You Lord for the gift of life, for the time spent in fellowship, for the quiet moments and not so quiet moments seeing You at work.  Father, I pray for those that yet to receive child like faith, to see the beauty of Your life and how in a short period of time You have changed the world.  May we each recognize it isn't the beginning or the end that matters but everything in the middle.  Bless the remainder of this day and may we carry Your gift to those that we are called too.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Mary, Star of the Sea, pray for us.

Luke Chapter 22, Advent Day 22

"Then he took the bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body, which will be given for you; do this in memory of me."

for the Son of Man indeed goes as it has been determined; but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed."

"Simon, Simon, behold Satan has demanded to sift all of you like wheat, but I have prayed that your own faith may not fail; and once you have turned back, you must strengthen your brothers."

and the Lord turned and looked at Peter; and Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said to him, "Before the cock crows today, you will deny me three times.""
‭‭Luke‬ ‭22:19, 22, 31-32, 61‬

Advent Day 22 - The Christmas Spirit.  As a child, I can recall the excitement and the anticipation of Christmas Day, it wasn't for the coming of the Lord, it was the coming of Santa.  We all can close our eyes and be transported back to that period of our lives.  Today, I have that excitement, that anticipation, not for Santa but for the Son of Man.  What once was real in my mind but now is fake has been replaced with what is real, the Bread of Life.  The story of Jesus is personal to each of us and it is looking into the eyes of Christ after we have denied Him that the Christmas Spirit becomes real because He is alive.  Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.  1 John 4:4b

What is God saying to me: My Light will shine through, it will not be covered up by the darkness for I Am real and it will be no more.

Dear Lord, I hear You calling and asking me to get up, to get the day going.  I love reading Your story and giving purpose to it, I treasure the gifts that You give.  Father, You know my heart for You are there, may I live this day, this week, this month, this year, this life with the spirit of Your Son within.  Your words are spirit and life, they give meaning to our step if we would but listen.  Prayers for those who have yet to look into Your eyes, give them faith and courage to do so.  Bless this day, bless the little ones with awe and excitement for this time of year.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Mary, Our Lady of Victory, pray for us.

Luke Chapter 21, Advent Day 21

"And all the people would get up early each morning to listen to him in the temple area." ‭‭Luke‬ ‭21:38‬

Advent Day 21 - a time of preparation.  We have been reading one chapter a day of Luke, listening to the Word of God.  Just as in days of old, Jesus speaks, He paints pictures, reveals mysterious, has us ponder things and life events.  There is a sharpness to the mind the first thing in the morning as God prepares you for the day.  Advent is a time of preparation, Luke Chapter 21 is God's Word preparing us for what is to come.  He prepares each of us for what lies ahead, spending time in the temple each day builds strength, endurance and reassurance that all is well.  Enjoy your day for God has prepared you, go and give it away.

What is God saying to me: Speak My truth.

Dear Father, I see You at work this morning, I see You preparing each of us and giving each what is needed.  Thank You Father for drawing me to You, for giving me the grace to sit at Your feet.  Prayers for a family burying their husband/father today, prayers for another family soon to bury a loved one.  You always prepare us for what lies ahead when we listen and respond to Your call.  Bless this day Father, may our celebrations with family be fun loving and memorable this Christmas season, You are the reason we are getting together.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Mary, Gate of Heaven, pray for us.

Luke Chapter 20, Advent Day 20

"The owner of the vineyard said, 'What shall I do? I shall send my beloved son; maybe they will respect him.'" Luke‬ ‭20:13‬

Advent Day 20 - Listen to Him. Christmas Day is just around the corner, have you pulled yourself out of the trappings of the world.  Do we listen for God or do we stay too busy to pay attention and drown Him out.  The Joy of life is to slow down and ponder God's Word and what He is doing in your life.  If we don't do that, greed takes over and runs amuck of everything.  God seeks to get our attention and has been doing so since the dawn of time, we have the power to give it to Him and listen.  The vineyard Owner, has sent His Son, has He found a home with you.  He stands at the door of your heart and knocks, the handle is on the inside, you make the decision.

What is God saying to me: I am not far away, as you know, always there when you call out for Me.

Dear Father, You have prepared an amazing vineyard, I am thankful that You got my attention and that I chose to listen.  Prayers for those who are not listening, who are so busy that there is no time for You.  Help us hear Your call Lord, Help us hear the knock and respond as Your Son Jesus does.  I am thankful for friends and family who are tending Your vineyard as you would.  Prayers for a holy man that is under the weather, watch over him and his family so others can learn what he knows.  May we all take You into our day, I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Mary, Gate of Heaven, pray for us.

Luke Chapter 19, Advent Day 19

"When he reached the place, Jesus looked up and said to him, "Zacchaeus, come down quickly, for today I must stay at your house." And he came down quickly and received him with joy. When they all saw this, they began to grumble, saying, "He has gone to stay at the house of a sinner." But Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, "Behold, half of my possessions, Lord, I shall give to the poor, and if I have extorted anything from anyone I shall repay it four times over." Luke‬ ‭19:5-8‬

Advent Day 19 - receive Him with joy.   Zacchaeus had to fight the crowds and wanted to see this man called Jesus.  He had heard the stories about Him, he had heard about the Messiah in the temple, could Jesus be Him, he wonders.  He receives Him with joy and unburdens his soul to the Master, what a blessing for him.  Next week there will be crowds coming to see the child called Jesus.  Will you find a way to see Him or will you stand in judgement of those that are there.  Come Lord Jesus, Come.

What is God saying to me: My child, I have come so all may see the Joy and receive My Son, Jesus, with joy.

Dear Father, I look forward to the crowds who are coming to see You, to listen to You speak, only thru Your words do we understand what real joy is all about.  I pray for the lost and those that can not see Your fullness.  I thank You for the conversation this morning and the pondering upon Your mysteries.  May we all receive You with joy, may we recognize who is present in the manger and may we come to know Your Son.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Luke Chapter 18, Advent Day 18

"Amen, I say to you, whoever does not accept the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it."

He shouted, "Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!"

"What do you want me to do for you?" He replied, "Lord, please let me see." ‭‭Luke‬ ‭18:17, 38, 41‬

Advent Day 18 - the wonders of a child.  What do children and a blind beggar have in common? A vivid imagination! An innocence to accept what they hear for they can not see.  Jesus is very plain in His words, you are sitting at His feet.  The blind mind could not see but had super sensitive hearing, the preaching he heard painted the true reality that many can not see.  He had pondered the Son of David and could hear what was going on around him.  He heard people passing by and speaking of this man called Jesus.  How many go through this world with sight but are blind?  Christmas is a time filled with excitement and joy, hope and anticipation, wonder and laughter from the perspective of a child and from one who believes in the Christ Child.  Close your eyes and see what God is saying to you.  He is on His way.

What is God saying to me: I hear all who ask.

Dear Father, I love the pictures You paint when I close my eyes, I love the memories and feelings that return.  There is so much to be thankful for.  Father, I see the need, I see the parables playing out each day, I will do what You ask of this day.  I pray others that are blind may see, I pray they have faith like a little child and hear Your words plainly and accept them.  Prayers for a family who lost a father yesterday, prayers for a friend going thru a medical condition, prayers for another who received a blessing in disguise.  God You are so good to us, may we see the blessings in all things, things are not always as we see them.  I ask this in the mighty name of Jesus.

Luke Chapter 17, Advent Day 17

"Asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, he said in reply, "The coming of the kingdom of God cannot be observed, and no one will announce, 'Look, here it is,' or, 'There it is.' For behold, the kingdom of God is among you." ‭‭Luke‬ ‭17:20-21‬

Advent Day 17 - The coming of the Lord.  Is Advent about the first coming of Christ or a preparation for the second coming?  Is it a reminder for you to the gift of Christmas, the Christ Child being set free in your heart?  When we truly understand Christmas then we can not help ourselves but announce to the world the kingdom of God is at hand.  We give birth to the child Jesus in our spirit and grow in our understanding.  As servants to the Master there is much that needs to be done for the coming of Jesus.  Just like our homes that announce Christmas to all those that enter so should our hearts announce the coming of the Lord.  Merry Christmas, He is on the way and you have a pivotal role in His salvation plan.

What is God saying to me: The outcome is mine, continue working, there is much to be done.

Dear Father, I hear You speak to my heart, I see You at work and I am but a spec of sand.   Bless this day and all it has to offer.  I ask for help with the challenges of the day, You know the best path forward.  I thank You Father for what You are doing to prepare us for what lies ahead, You are always out in front.  Prayers for those that are cold and lonely, may they know You and feel loved.  Use me where needed today, and may we all be thankful for our place in life.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Luke Chapter 16, Advent Day 16

"Abraham replied, 'My child, remember that you received what was good during your lifetime while Lazarus likewise received what was bad; but now he is comforted here, whereas you are tormented." Luke‬ ‭16:25‬

Advent Day 16 - Count your blessings.  Where do your thoughts turn to when you see someone in need?  Do you see the naked and hungry, do you see Lazarus or do you see a beggar being lazy.  Realize what you have is a gift from God, even the ability to make right choices.  Look with compassion, see God in front of you and reach out, be willing to give if being asked by God.  Our troubles on this earth only prepare us for eternity, do not let your own self interest get in the way of seeing God.  Christmas is about the joy of the season, give the gift of Jesus to someone in need.  Remember you are receiving what is good, use it wisely.

What is God saying to me: I am sending you a helper, listen to him and read his writings, they are from Me.

Dear Father, help me see the need and act, may I not get caught up in my own self interests.  Prayers for the wealthy who look upon others with disdain not realizing there is a price to all the good gifts You give us.  Enliven within us Lord, the thought of You each day as we awake, bring hope and joy into our lives and a heart that sees what You see.  Prayers for Tony, may you fill his need Lord as he does Your will, I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Luke Chapter 15, Advent Day 15

"The tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to listen to him, but the Pharisees and scribes began to complain, saying, "This man welcomes sinners and eats with them." ‭‭Luke‬ ‭15:1-2‬

Advent Day 15 - The longing of our heart.  Are we not all attracted to truth, Jesus is the truth and He challenges us to be better people.  We are all given one life, we are on a pilgrimage and our hearts are not satisfied until they find God.  We search high and low for happiness but it isn't found until we are reunited with our Creator.  God prepares the way by allowing us to be seasoned and then we are open to hearing and seeing the Truth.    It isn't until we recognize our own faults that we begin to see otherwise even though Christ is present we are blind to the reality of who He is.  Open Your eyes, He truly is present and He invites you to dine with Him.

What is God saying to me:  I Am always there with you, even when you misstep, you recognize it and begin again.  Do not forget that I Am with you, you are My son, just as Jesus was.  We will figure it out so do not fret the small stuff and keep speaking the truth, I do not need defended only witnessed too.

Dear Father, I am drawn to You and want more of You within me.  You see my faults and You still speak to me, in this way You are loving me even when I sin.  Yet Your words challenge me to be better, to recognize the Truth and to live it each day that You give.  Prayers for a friend who is lonely and is searching, may his heart be stirred and challenged to the truth when he sits in front of You.  I pray he finds a spouse that makes him happy and if it be Your will children to teach how great You are.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Luke Chapter 14, Advent 14

"On a sabbath he went to dine at the home of one of the leading Pharisees, and the people there were observing him carefully. In front of him there was a man suffering from dropsy.

He told a parable to those who had been invited, noticing how they were choosing the places of honor at the table." ‭‭Luke‬ ‭14:1-2, 7‬

Advent Day 14 - How well do you see?  Jesus is at a party and He is very observant of what is going on, how well others think of themselves.  They on the other hand do not see that well for their focus is on themselves.  It is holiday season and there are parties, Christmas pageants and galas, recognize Christ in the room and do not think better of yourself.  In Jesus's teachings, He warns of being indignant of others, of exalting ones self, you never know that you might be like this guest who said: "One of his fellow guests on hearing this said to him, "Blessed is the one who will dine in the kingdom of God."" Luke‬ ‭14:15‬.  And he was dining with God but couldn't see Him.  Awake my soul and let me see.

What is God saying to me: I Am not found in lofty places but in lowly places, who will feed the hungry, the naked, the lost or the lonely, will you feed them My child?

Dear Lord, there are a lot of distractions this time of year that tries to cloud our vision, You are watching to see how we will respond, will we see what You see and respond as You would respond.  I love the way You challenge ones thinking, to speak directly thru pictures.  May we all enjoy the Christmas season but not without You in it.  I look forward to dine with You dear Lord, til then please walk with me and let me see what You see for nothing goes unnoticed in Your presence.  Prayers for a friend that is in the hospital in an induced coma, may the healing hands of God be upon him, his family and the medical staff, I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Mary, Queen of Angels, pray for us.

Luke Chapter 13, Advent Day 13

"The Lord said to him in reply, "Hypocrites! Does not each one of you on the sabbath untie his ox or his ass from the manger and lead it out for watering?" Luke‬ ‭13:15‬

Advent Day 13 - Discipleship.  Jesus challenges each of us to be His disciples.  He came here and taught twelve disciples to go into the world to preach the gospel.  Their salvation was determined by what they did with what God gave them.  He didn't save them so they could go their own way, Judas did that.  God's Word challenges us to action to be like the Master.  Jesus is not your ox or ass that can used for labor, that you can go to when work needs to be done.  You are not to whip Him and beat Him to get the job done.  He is the food that gives us strength to go into the vineyard so you can be His disciples.  He is the example that we are to follow.  "Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord." Like 13:35c

What is God saying to me: Not all will understand but you are doing as I am asking.  Go in peace today.

Dear Lord, there are many that are held back by their unrepentant heart, they see you as their salvation not realizing that we are to strive to enter the narrow Gate.  Help each of us see the power of Your holy food that we get to feast on, it isn't to get fat but to fuel us for the mission.  Thank You Father for letting me see what I see, help me continue to strive, put the words into my mouth today when called upon, lead me out into the world so You can thrive.  Prayers for a friend being held back, may his struggle unite his heart with Yours.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Mary, Queen of Victory, pray for us.

Luke Chapter 12, Advent Day 12

"Can any of you by worrying add a moment to your life-span? If even the smallest things are beyond your control, why are you anxious about the rest? Notice how the flowers grow. They do not toil or spin. But I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of them.

Instead, seek his kingdom, and these other things will be given you besides." ‭‭Luke‬ ‭12:25-27, 31‬

Advent Day 12 - Notice how a flower grows.  We can worry ourselves sick, it weighs us down.   Look at the flower, it stands tall, striving to reach the sky, it allows the Sun to shine upon it and strives that much more.  Rains come, winds come and it withstands it because it is strong.  There is a lot to be said by looking up and seeing God shine upon you.  The worries and anxiety's go away because you know you are loved.  Jesus gives us words to live by, He gives us a flower to ponder and He shows where real strength comes from.  It will soon be Christmas, give yourself the gift and be just like the flower, looking up, smiling bright and showing the beauty of God shine thru you.

What is God saying to me: As you look up, your roots are growing deeper into My Sacred Heart, they will sustain you when times are tough.

Dear Father, there is so much going thru my mind, You have blessed us abundantly the past several days, lives are being changed as they spend time being shined upon.  I thank You Father for firmly planting me within Your Sacred Heart, it is an image that has been with me since childhood, may we all grow up in such a home.  Prayers for a couple of friends who are overwhelmed with work and life situations, may they see the joy in looking up and relaxing knowing all is well when we focus on You.  To God be the glory, now and forever, Amen.

Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.

Luke Chapter 11, Advent Day 11

"If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the Father in heaven give the holy Spirit to those who ask him?"

But if it is by the finger of God that [I] drive out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you." Luke‬ ‭11:13, 20‬

Advent Day 11 - The humanity of Christ.  I have this picture of a father looking upon his son with love watching him go about his day.  When a child ask for help, the father knows how to help, he knows to give a hand, he knows to give a little direction, he shows him what to do, he gives him guidance and allows the child to learn.  God the Father, Our Father, offers us the same opportunity.  Jesus, His Perfect Son, offers glimpses into what we are capable of.  Jesus is God but while on earth He is the perfect Son.  It isn't Christ that drives our demons but God through Christ, He was sent here to teach us to be perfect sons and daughters, to show us the way.  The same Father Jesus has is also there for each of us.  He looks upon you as He did Jesus.  You can go on your own, like the Pharisees or you can allow God to work through you.  Did Jesus instinctively know this or did He have to learn it from our Blessed Mother?

What is God saying to me: I am watching with love even in your failures you are learning and growing.  March on.

Dear Father, You are the Great Teacher who gives us Your Perfect Son and perfect daughter.  Thank You for this perfect examples of a holy life, a realization that it is something that is achievable if we become child like and allow ourselves to be taught.  There is purpose in everything that You do Father, Thank You for the gifts of the Holy Spirit, for the joy to walk with You each day and for the example of Your Son and daughter.  Prayers for more men and women to have child like faith and to walk with You each day.  Bless this day, protect us from the evil one and be ever in our thoughts, In the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Mary, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Pray for us.

Luke Chapter 10, Advent Day 10

"After this the Lord appointed seventy[-two] others whom he sent ahead of him in pairs to every town and place he intended to visit. He said to them, "The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest." Luke‬ ‭10:1-2‬

Advent Day 10 - Do you see the need?  I heard a story recently of someone seeing the need.  They gave away their only money for Christmas gifts for their kids to a neighbor in another town.  It wasn't an easy decision because there was no opportunity to make it up before Christmas.  But not for God, the very day it was given away, God provided more than what was given away from an unexpected source.  We each have an opportunity to see and give, listen to the struggles of others, it is enough to break your heart except that God placed them there for you to see.  He needs an entry into their lives and that entry is You because He intends to visit.  You have a choice today to, see the need and stop, or walk on past.  May God richly bless you with eyes to see and ears to hear, there are a lot of lost people not knowing the way.

What is God saying to me: Believe

Dear Father, I see the need and am stepping out on faith knowing You have sent me to go ahead of You.  Help each of us see the need and stand in the gap, may we give of our time, our talent and our resources knowing it all comes from You.  You richly bless those who see You in their neighbor, who see Your creation being beaten down by following the ways of the world.  Give us strength to step out on faith, not knowing the answer but trusting in You, for You always provide.  Prayers for two young families, one knows You and is obedient and the other is like sheep without a shepherd, bless each of them richly this Advent season.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Luke Chapter 9, Advent Day 9

"Then he said to all, "If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.

Whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

But he answered him, "Let the dead bury their dead. But you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God." Luke‬ ‭9:23, 26, 60‬

Advent Day 9 - Who do you say I Am?  What a great question and it is one that Jesus asks each of us.  The life of Jesus pointed to who He was and what His mission was, it pointed to His Father in Heaven.  Our own lives also speak for what we give glory.  On our pilgrimage to Christmas ponder the question, what does your life say about God.  Does it speak of His glory, does it hide in shame when asked, does it proclaim the Kingdom, all challenging questions.  Without your participation in the body of Christ there will be an empty wicker baskets, you have an important role to play just as the first disciples did. Come Lord Jesus come.

What is God saying to me: Be patient with yourself, understanding comes with time and I Am giving it.  No stone will be left unturned.

Dear Father God, You are Almighty, You are Glorious, You are beyond what I can explain and You are my Messiah.  I thank You for the journey, for the joys and the struggles. I thank You for the strength when called upon and also the weakness that You are overcoming.  You challenge Lord God and in doing so You help us understand who we are and how much more there is, yet we are there, together.  Bless this day Lord, give hope to the hopeless, there is so much to live for.  Prayers for someone thinking about suicide, may they know they are loved by God, they are being called by God, may they seek You and find peace.  I ask this in the name above every other name, Jesus Christ, the King of Peace, Amen.

Mary, Our Lady of Victory, pray for us.

Luke Chapter 8, Advent Day 8

"But he took her by the hand and called to her, "Child, arise!" Luke‬ ‭8:54‬

Advent Day 8 - It is the Christmas Season, the coming of the Lord.  How did Jesus, as one of us, speak miracles into existence?  Did he do it as God?  He was God but He didn't use His divinity to make this happen.  He called upon His Father because Jesus abided with Him.  Jesus knew the right order of things, he was the perfect spotless lamb.    "Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied." ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:6‬.  We are all called to Righteousness, the right order of things and our Father in Heaven must respond if we are like Jesus.  You are being called to holiness this advent season, to abide with our Father in Heaven.  It is funny but we all want to get to Heaven, do we get to stroll in or do we , like Jesus, have to strive for it?  Jesus didn't earn it but He did do what He knew He had to do.  Miracles do happen, every single day, and we are all capable of them.

What is God saying to me: The Holy Spirit In you knows what to say and how to say it.

Dear Father, I pray for the lost children of Israel who are drinking coffee this morning in a sanctuary, may they see the right order of things and be called back to holiness.  Father, I see You at work making all things right, insuring that all are found.  Inspire us to speak the truth, inspire us to read and understand Your Word, to sit at Your feet and ponder.  Thank You Father for an amazing day yesterday, it went exactly as You planned, we are all connected when we operate within the Body of Christ.  Thank You for the out pouring of Your graces and blessings upon those who listened and responded.  Bless this day Lord, Thank You for being blessed with beautiful examples of holy women in my life, my mother, my grandmother and especially our Blessed Mother.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Mary, Conceived without sin, pray for us.

Luke Chapter 7, Advent Day 7

"Then what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. This is the one about whom scripture says: 'Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, he will prepare your way before you.'" ‭‭Luke‬ ‭7:26-27‬

Advent Day 7 - Advent is a time of preparation for the coming of Jesus.  John the Baptist and his followers prepared the way for Christ so He could heal, so He could save and so He could forgive sin.  A time of preparation, we decorate our homes by putting up Christmas Trees, lights, hanging ornaments and stockings.  I wonder how many of us prepare ourselves for the coming of Christ.  Our preparations always include others whether it be family members or friends.  We are the sum of the seven closest people to us, this should give you some idea of how your preparation is coming along.  John prepared the way for Jesus to heal, we too have this responsibility to prepare the way.  Slow down from all the glitz and glamor and prepare your way, make it a conscious effort or the world will overtake you.

What is God saying to me: Witness my power and glory today, rest easy.

Dear Father, all is prepared to the best of our abilities for this day.  Help us see the way that You are asking us to walk.  Help us see how we can be different in this Christmas season to point to You so others may see the way.  Thank You Father for all the prayers that others are praying, may You answer their prayers.  Bless this day Lord with eyes to see and ears to hear the way that we are to go.  Prayers for a little one who deals with anxiety may You intervene and fill her heart with peace.  I ask this in the name above every other name, Jesus Christ, Amen.

Mary, Blessed Mother of Jesus, pray for us.

Luke Chapter 6, Advent Day 6

""Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' but not do what I command? I will show you what someone is like who comes to me, listens to my words, and acts on them. That one is like a person building a house, who dug deeply and laid the foundation on rock; when the flood came, the river burst against that house but could not shake it because it had been well built." Luke‬ ‭6:46-48‬

Advent Day 6 - Faith in Christ is an unwavering faith it is an every day action upon His word.    This morning I wasn't called to act but to listen and wait.  God tells us the flood will come, it did for Noah, he was ready because he listened.  Your foundation will have a burst against it, will it be shaken.  There are some sitting this morning with life choices, with lost loved ones, with insurmountable odds.  Jesus teaches us to give from the heart, for what we give will come back to us.  He is the giver of all good gifts and we are to be His disciples living our faith.  Listen to God and act upon His word, life does not get any better than that.  We are not promised tomorrow but we are given today, smile, count your blessings and build upon the Rock!  Do not let fear stand in the way.

What is God saying to me: I am always out in front, continue building.

Dear Father You know how my heart was heavy this morning and how You addressed that, I thank You for this gift.  Father, help each of us see all the blessings in our lives, all the joys in our lives for we are not promised tomorrow.  Thank You Father for Your powerful testimony given by one of Your disciples, he has built a firm foundation, a little each day.  Prayers this morning for a young couple by the name of Mandie and Andrew, You are the giver of all good things and I know You are working miracles with this family.  Prayers for the Sanders family that lost two children in an accident, may their hearts rejoice with gladness in knowing they will meet again in Eternal Paradise.  Bless this day God, bless tomorrow and raise up mighty warriors with firm foundations.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Mary, Our Lady of Victory, pray for us.

Luke Chapter 5, Advent Day 5

"When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at the knees of Jesus and said, "Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man." For astonishment at the catch of fish they had made seized him and all those with him, and likewise James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners of Simon. Jesus said to Simon, "Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men." When they brought their boats to the shore, they left everything and followed him.

But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins"—he said to the man who was paralyzed, "I say to you, rise, pick up your stretcher, and go home." ‭‭Luke‬ ‭5:8-11, 24‬

Advent Day 5 - New Life.  Simon-Peter is challenged by Jesus to put his nets out in deeper water, even though he was tired and felt it pointless, he heard the Masters voice.  The men carrying the paralytic could not go thru the front door, they found a way to get their friend in and their sins were forgiven.  Fear, our past, sin, holds us back from putting out in deeper water but just as Jesus told Simon "Do not be afraid", Simon heard the call, he was not alone, Jesus was with him.  The new life that Jesus promises us is never done alone, He is with you.  "Greater is He that in me, than he that is in the world.  1 John 4:4b"

What is God saying to me: Ride the wind, it can not be seen but I Am there.

Dear Father, You do put us out there in deeper waters, sometimes it is a little scary but there is reassurance that You are there.  Allow Your voice to be heard today, may the words "Do not be afraid" ring true in many hearts.  There is a lot that needs done and the workers are few but not to worry You are God - all things are possible.  Prayers for a sweet couple dealing with medical challenges, may they recognize Your presence and be blessed with peace.  Thank You Father for another picture perfect morning.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Mary, Queen of Peace, pray for us.

Luke Chapter 4, Advent Day 4

"The devil said to him, "I shall give to you all this power and their glory; for it has been handed over to me, and I may give it to whomever I wish. All this will be yours, if you worship me." Jesus said to him in reply, "It is written: 'You shall worship the Lord, your God, and him alone shall you serve.'" Luke‬ ‭4:6-8‬

Advent day 4 - Their glory or God's glory, which one do you seek?  As we read Luke 4, it begins with Jesus preparing Himself for His mission, He battles the devil with all his temptations then He leaves and goes into the world serving God.   Each day we make conscious and unconscious choices on who's glory we seek.  As Jesus encountered others during His day, He witnessed to the power of God, not his power but God's power.  All whom he encountered were transformed, Peter's mother-in-law was healed and immediately began to serve God.  We are given the same opportunities each day to encounter others, witness to them the power of God and change lives.  It isn't done by walking past others, it is done by encountering humanity, to speak to the homeless women pushing a shopping cart.  To smile at others and wishing them a pleasant day, in learning about who they are.  As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord, I do not want "their Glory", only God's glory.

What is God saying to me: Be prepared.

Dear Father, I love You and Your creation.  Some can be a challenge but You provide what is necessary in knowing how to handle each situation.  Your Son was not leaning on His own strength only Your strength which is available to all that seek it.  I am thankful for the day that lays ahead, I am thankful for the pictures being painted, You are the Master of my life, lead the way.  Prayers for this coming Saturday, prayers of gratitude for what You will accomplish on this day, May we all encounter Christ and be transformed.  I ask this in the Mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

Mary, Gate of Heaven, pray for us.

Luke Chapter 3, Advent day 3

"And the crowds asked him, "What then should we do?" He said to them in reply, "Whoever has two tunics should share with the person who has none. And whoever has food should do likewise." Luke‬ ‭3:10-11‬

Advent Day 3 - As we journey towards Christmas I challenge you to slow down, to not become distracted with all the trappings of the season but to relish the moments of joy, to enjoy each other's company, to appreciate each other.  We live in a world that deals with pain and so needs a gentle reminder that We are all loved by God.  With out Jesus in our lives, it would become overwhelming, with Jesus it is real joy.  Be present with the people God brings along your path, listen, watch, witness the beauty of life.

What is God saying to me: I give you eyes to see and ears to listen, you see what I see, yet I have no hands but yours, no feet but yours, no body but yours.  Enjoy your day, it will be a blessing to you, My gift to you, use it wisely.

Dear Father, I am blessed beyond measure with what You are sharing.  Help me take my eyes off of self and meet others where they are at.  Let me bring the spirit of Jesus every where I go this day.  Thank You for the gift of peace, for the gift of patience and the gift of blessed assurance that You are in charge, I decide to participate or not.  I choose to participate in all that You ask and I trust in You in the outcome.  Prayers for all those feeling pain today may they recognize the love that their Father in Heaven wishes to give. Help each of us see that we get what we give.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

'O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.' (Our Lady originally presented this prayer to St. Catherine Labouré.)

Luke Chapter 2, Advent Day 2

"And he said to them, "Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?" Luke‬ ‭2:49‬

Advent day 2 - And just like that Jesus is twelve, it makes you realize how life moves past us quickly.  I can close my eyes and be transported back to yesterday or what really seems like yesterday but many years have passed.  Mary and Joesph, Simeon and Anna were all thankful along the way, they never stopped thanking God.  It was done with their presence in His temple, it was done with their willingness to accept God's grace.  Every once in awhile we are reminded that time moves quickly, what we do everyday, the simple gestures speaks to who God is in our lives.  Be thankful for the simple things, be thankful that you woke up.  God is so amazing that sometimes we forget to give thanks or we get so busy that we have no time for God, realize that the simple gestures have the most impact, be present to God everyday of your life, it is way more fun and a lot more peaceful!

What is God saying to me: My mission is not yet complete, continue to listen and respond.

Dear Father, being thankful rings in my heart this morning, there is so much to be thankful for and they are all gifts from You.  You are the giver of all good things, help us realize how important You should be in our lives.  Help young people understand how quickly life moves, it is in our daily worship that peace and joy can be found.  Here I am Lord, I am present to You today, use me to do Your will.  May I always be thankful even in my troubles.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Luke Chapter 1, Advent day 1, www.dailythoughts.com

"And the angel said to her in reply, "The holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. And behold, Elizabeth, your relative, has also conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren; for nothing will be impossible for God." Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word." Then the angel departed from her." Luke‬ ‭1:35-38‬

Advent day 1 - understanding.  The angel Gabriel visited both Zechariah and Mary, both were frightened, one had complete understanding and one had doubt.  One did not question what was said, the other could not accept what was being said.  In our own understanding God challenges us to accept Him at His word.  Mary knew what it meant to be over shadowed by the power of the most High, the Ark of the Covenant was over shadowed by God from on High.   Zechariah could not accept what was being said because he lacked understanding, he questioned truth.  But after his exile of not being able to speak, he had complete understanding, he had time to reflect upon the word of God.  He could see God's salvation plan coming to life.  God challenges each of us to understand, may He give you eyes to see this Christmas season.

What is God saying to me: You are to love unconditionally, I will give understanding to those who are seeking it.

Dear Father, there is a lot in Luke Chapter 1, we can all learn from reading it with expectation of what You wish to reveal.  I thank You Lord for revealing truth in Your words.  I am thankful that Luke followed the guidance of Your Holy Spirit.   Lord, I do not question to know but to truly understand what You are asking of each of us.  Our world needs more of You, more time to sit and reflect upon Your generous heart.  Prayers for a special intention that only You know, You are faithful Father that gives when the time is right.  "Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled." ‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:45‬.  You are Mighty God and Your word reveals truth, may we all see it, in Jesus name, Amen.

Mary, Full of Grace, pray for us.
