Week 7 - The Journey Day 1

Week 7 - The Journey Day 1

"Amen, I say to you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it."  Matthew‬ ‭13:17‬

God in the flesh.  The prophets told of the coming of the Christ, He is here, standing in our midst.  The righteous people the same, the Messiah hadn't come yet in the flesh, He is here, standing in our midst.  They were waiting for Messiah, we are not.

Jesus has already come and if we choose, we can see Him and hear Him.  Daily prayer reveals the glory of God in our life.  Jesus will come and visit with you, He will reveal The Truth to you in the circumstances of your life.  ""But blessed are your eyes, because they see, and your ears, because they hear."  ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭13:16‬.  Jesus is here to us each day.  If the life you have been living is only giving time to God on Sundays, you are missing the boat.  "I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly."  ‭‭John‬ ‭10:10‬b

What is God saying to me?  I come and stand in your midst, revealing who I Am in scripture and the circumstances of your life.  I said "Come" and you listened.  Pray for those whom I call and are still learning to listen so I can bless them with abundant life.

Dear Father, You are louder in my life than any other voice, in this You are training my ear to be obedient to Your will.  Thank You Father for the gift of this day, for the gift of grace in daily prayer, for the deep abiding peace in the daily circumstances.  Prayers for a friend helping a loved one journey home, prayers for his family as they come to acceptance of the joy of Heaven.  Bless this day Lord and all it has to offer, I will do Your will.  Amen.

Week 6 - The Journey Day 7

Week 6 - The Journey Day 7

"Amen, I say to you, among those born of women there has been none greater than John the Baptist; yet the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he."  ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:11‬

John points to Jesus, this was his mission in life but, Jesus points to Heaven and to what John was doing.   No matter what we do here on earth, it is still Jesus that gets us to Heaven.  All the right things and being good are nothing if we don't have Jesus.  John the Baptist as great as he was, is nothing compared to the Saints in Heaven.

We are each called to prepare the way for Christ, and we must humble ourselves like John and Jesus.  (Jesus was born of a woman).  The gifts and talents we have, have been given to us from God, without God we are nothing.  John learned to listen to God, he prepared himself to hear God's voice.  He recognized what was going on around him because he read and spoke what was written.  Reading scripture and proclaiming His Truth is a big part of our relationship with God.  John responded to God's voice, he was driven to live his life the way he did because that is what God called him too.   What about you?  Can you hear the voice of God in your life?

What is God saying to me?  As you listen, you make connections in old and New Testament that brings the picture to life.  You seen Zechariah reading and passing along to his son, John.  Listening is also seeing Me move in the lives of others.

Dear Father, You are painting the picture, connecting the dots and giving understanding that opens up Your word.  I thank You for the desire You have placed upon my heart.  I will be faithful each day to this call and will respond to the best of my abilities.  Prayers for a friend going in for a heart procedure this morning, calm his nerves and give his wife Peace as they wait upon You for blessings.  Watch over us this day Lord and keep us safe, in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 6 - The Journey Day 6

Week 6 - The Journey Day 6

"And whoever gives only a cup of cold water to one of these little ones to drink because he is a disciple—amen, I say to you, he will surely not lose his reward.""  ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭10:42‬

Our actions speak of our intent, words only begin to tell the story but our actions is our character.   A cup of cold water was not something that was readily available in Jesus's day, I assume it required effort to get it and keep it cold, it required giving of ones self for another.  In this verse it also shows the respect or admiration from one to another, offering help to sustain the body so it can continue.

Discipleship isn't an easy task, it requires effort, it requires thoughtfulness, it takes time and it needs to be watered.  Jesus spent three years developing disciples that eventually understood their mission.  The disciples didn't drink from a fire hose, they received a small cup of cold water that quenched their thirst.  We too need to keep this in mind as we become the disciples that God calls us too.  If you are still reading this, you are a disciple, remember everyone is in a different place.

"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.""  Matthew‬ ‭28:19-20‬

What is God saying to me? Every encounter is an opportunity to reach the soul, all I ask is that you sprinkle a little water, I will see to it that it serves its purpose.  I am the one that gives life to the body and the soul.

Dear Father, I see the thirsty and the lost rejecting a cup of water but that does not deter me from our mission.  I know You will penetrate their hardness of heart and bring about life.  Thank You for the gift of life, for the gift of another who offered the water of eternal life.  You are rebuilding the garden of Eden one person at a time.  Thank You for this day and all it has to offer, keep us safe and well watered with the well of everlasting life.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Week 6 - The Journey Day 5

"When they persecute you in one town, flee to another. Amen, I say to you, you will not finish the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes."  ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭10:23‬

Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.  1 John 4:4b.  Do we give Jesus voice in our lifes?   I sat in adoration this morning pondering God's word and what I received is Jesus calls us to be His body and His blood here on earth.  He does not call us to preach the fifth gospel, which is my truth.  We don't always know what to say or where to go but we can learn how to listen to God and be in the presence of the burning bush.

"When they hand you over, do not worry about how you are to speak or what you are to say. You will be given at that moment what you are to say. For it will not be you who speak but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you."  ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭10:19-20‬.  Jesus laid His life down so we could live abundantly, this abundance is His life that lives within.  The Son of Man lives within once You are open to Him and are at peace, it is He that will move your life.

What is God saying to me?  I reaffirmed our thoughts this morning through My humble servant.  You are called for a purpose and it is being revealed to You, You are my son, the son of the King, Me.

Dear Father, what a blessing to start the day hearing Your voice in the quietness of the day.  Many do not take the time to listen, but You wait patiently for them to slow down and hear.  I see the desire Father, I hear the need, it is Your voice that will do the speaking, I am but a willing servant just as my brother Jesus was as the Son of Man.  Prayers for a world deaf to the truth and the reality of You Father, the living God.  Make Your reality in each of us so we can become the evidence of Your presence here on earth.  Bless this day Father, protect all those traveling home, I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 6 - The Journey Day 4

Week 6 - The Journey Day 4

"Amen, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town." Matthew‬ ‭10:15‬

Jesus sends the disciples in groups of two to go and proclaim the Kingdom.  And in each community they are either received or they dust off their sandals and move on.   What fruit is there in this verse for us to take away?  We each play a role in our own towns/communities.  Are you the faith filled influence like the disciples that will change the future or will you deny the voice of God.

Each of us our called to proclaim the Kingdom of God, Sodom and Gomorrah didn't listen to the Son of David, we do.  In sitting in the presence of God, seeing the evidence of God in action will change you and those around you.  Do not be deterred in going forward, live your faith, be bold.  There are consequences for future generations within your own community.

What is God saying to me:  Just Be, don't do, I will make it happen.

Dear Father, there is no better way to start the day then in your presence.  You painted pictures this morning that brought back a great memory, a memory of a life that was not afraid to speak her mind.  I thank You for the blessings of all those that went before us, that heard you say "Go", may we each be the example that You are calling us too.  Prayers for Your will to be accomplished, prayers for Your heart to beat strongly within each of Your Disciples.  Thank You Father for this day and all it has to offer, I ask this in Jesus name, amen.

Week 6 - The Journey Day 3

Week 6 - The Journey Day 3

"When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, "Amen, I say to you, in no one in Israel have I found such faith."  ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭8:10‬

The Son of Man is amazed on what He is hearing, what is so amazing?  Here is a non-Israelite, in fact a Roman Centurion that explains the Kingdom of God.  Jesus recognizes that this man has been touched by His Father in Heaven.   It is the Centurion's faith that has caught Jesus's ear.

What is faith?  "Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not seen."  ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11:1‬   The Centurion has been watching from a distance, he has seen the evidence, Jesus at work, he has heard about God and now he is putting his faith to work.  His heart speaks to him for the lord of his world was Caesar, who didn't come to serve but be served.  Jesus on the other hand had been walking with authority given to Him by His Father, and He came to serve.  The Centurion understood authority and could not act until given direction yet he seen the unjust system and it did not satisfy.  He had been prepared for this day to walk with Christ.

Have you been watching from a distance?  Have you seen Jesus working around you and now you are ready to experience the Living God, the Christ.  God speaks into our hearts, through the actions of others, through lives being changed that we encounter each day.  Like the Centurion put your faith into action, live in faith and trust where God is taking you.  The Centurion walked away from his old way of life and accepted the teachings of Jesus, he took Jesus at His word.  "The centurion said in reply, "Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof; only say the word and my servant will be healed."  ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭8:8‬

What is God saying to me?  It is an invitation that I offer those that are observing their world, that have become dissatisfied with the way of the world.  Live in Peace, accept the Truth.

Dear Father, watching You at work changes everything, listening to what You hear changes everything, being attentive to Your voice changes everything.  I thank You for traveling with me this morning, for opening up scripture and the scene so I may absorb what is going on.  You are the Way, the Truth and the Life, lead on Lord and teach us to live out the faith You are instilling on the inside.   Prayers for a friend helping a family member through a round patch of life, You always know how to heal and in this it will be no different for that is Your will for each of us.  Suffering is part of the journey and we each must experience it as we place our trust in You and You alone.  To God be the glory, Amen.

Week 6 - The Journey Day 2

Week 6 - The Journey Day 2

""When you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites. They neglect their appearance, so that they may appear to others to be fasting. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward."  Matthew‬ ‭6:16‬

Jesus repeats His message again, all three are talking about outer appearances but what is He really saying?   I believe it is this, where your heart is there is your treasure.  On the inside how are you to respond to God?  For what is on the inside will reflect upon your face, upon your conversation with God and upon your actions.  Jesus is really talking about our walk with God and our motivations.

This place where no matter what is happening on the outside, you are not deterred from Him.  The voice You hear is God, You know that all is well because He is Your Father.  Your prayer will be right prayer, your actions will be right actions that please Him and your spirit will always be at peace even though your physical self is speaking to you.  Your outer self reflects what Jesus showed us to do in the midst of life.   In the end of the Son of Man's earthly mission, His Father gave Him His just reward.

What is God saying to me?  It is better to understand than to be understood.  I do not miss a beat of your heart.

Dear Father, I see His struggle as He speaks with the disciples, I see Your struggle with me and I also see Your tender response as we walk together.  You know the whole story and You know tomorrow, I will do as You ask, I will go where You direct me and I will live at peace to the best of my abilities.  Prayers for those listening to the voice of unrest and clanging symbols, as the storm blew Your Son slept, help us all get to this place on the way home.  Thank You Father for one of Your faithful servants who responded to Your call and is now at home, he is the child of the King.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Week 6 - The Journey Day 1

Week 6 - The Journey Day 1

""When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, who love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on street corners so that others may see them. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward."  ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:5‬

Whom are you serving?  Self or God?   Jesus rephrases His statement as He teaches the Disciples, He is working at the heart of the matter.   The previous comment was on alms, this one is on prayer but the Amen, I say to you is the same.  If we are serving self than we have been given what our hearts desired, to be recognized.

"But when you pray, go to your inner room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will repay you."  Matthew‬ ‭6:6‬

How is your prayer life?  God sees all, including your heart, Jesus is giving the Disciples a key to navigate life just as He did in the previous verse.  Sitting with God in silence, just you and God, do you do this?   Jesus as Son of Man, spent many an hour alone in prayer, He went to His Father in Heaven for spiritual guidance.  How many of us go to this place, to bring the challenges of our life to Him.  How many sit as an observer to see what is really going on.  God seeks the heart of all situations and you are at the heart of His desire.  This inner room is a place you can go to and bare all, nothing is hidden from God.  He sees all, just as Jesus did with His followers.

What is God saying to me?  I will continue to work on the heart, You keep coming.  It does not happen overnight but over time.

Dear Father, it is good that I am here, You are showing me my heart and also working on it.  I see Jesus teaching and I see You teaching.   You never promised any of us an easy life but You do promise to love us and all I seek is Your love and satisfaction.  Prayers for a friend been given some time  to think, may we all learn to come to You in the inner room and come out with the glory of You.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 5 - The Journey Day 6

"When you give alms, do not blow a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets to win the praise of others. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward."  Matthew‬ ‭6:2‬

What is at the heart of this verse?  Whom are you serving, self or God?  Jesus spent His whole life serving His Father in Heaven, not once was it self serving, this a lesson He is passing on to His disciples.  Yet, like us, they are seeking places of honor, to be recognized for their efforts.  God knows the heart, He knows what our why is.   Why else would He help to correct His disciples, He knows it is a journey into the heart of God.

Jesus and God the Father have the same heart.  When you look upon another do you see what Jesus sees?  Do you give as Jesus gives?   Alms is giving of ones self not for recognition but for the glory of God, it can be anything, your time, your talent or your treasure.  Jesus sits with us this morning and explores the heart and we sit and ponder what is our motivation.  Have a blessed day and begin each at the feet of Jesus, there is nothing better than being loved by Him.

What is God saying to me?  I see your heart and I know what motivates you, I will keep it a secret.  Continue the journey into My heart.

Dear Father, thank You for a beautiful productive weekend surrounded by love and many fond memories.  You give from the heart Lord and I in return try to reciprocate.  Watch over us this week, may we sit with You and be blessed as the disciples were blessed.  Prayers for a week where the other is the focus of our efforts.   I ask this in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Week 5 - The Journey Day 5

Week 5 - The Journey Day 5

"Amen, I say to you, you will not be released until you have paid the last penny."  ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:26‬

Jesus is teaching Truth, these are His words, there is consequences to our sins.  A penny isn't a lot of money but it takes into account the smallest of sins.  As a Catholic, I get to go to confessions and I receive penance at the end of my confessions.  This is a form of payment for my sins and full forgiveness is given when completed.  Jesus believes in payment for our transgressions, He taught it.

He also speaks of prison or a place of holding, where is this place is it just here on earth or is it a location in the afterlife?  Jesus paid the full price of my sins so why does He teach this in scripture.  Jesus dying on the cross for each of us isn't to be abused, to live as we freely chose without consequences.  Jesus teaches us to obey His word, He uses the words "you have paid", why would He not use the word I?   Something to ponder today in our daily walk, we are all called to a life of holiness, to live out our faith to the best of our abilities.  Being conscious of our own sinfulness and recognizing there is consequences helps us.

Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads, living out your calling to fatherhood is a great responsibility, little eyes are watching and our actions will be copied.

What is God saying to me?

Dear Father, Happy Fathers Day, Thank You for being a great Dad, for ensuring we have the ability to be taught and the freedom to choose our path in life.  Help us choose the better path in life, draw us closer to You in subtle ways.  Reveal Truth to us that becomes ingrained in our journey.  Thank You Father for the beautiful bride You gave me 34 years ago, she is a true blessing in my life and the lives of all the kids.  Continue to bless our marriage and may it continue to bear fruit.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 5 - The Journey Day 4

Week 5 - The Journey Day 4

"Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place."  ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:18‬

Jesus foretells of His death and the new covenant.  Do you ever notice how God tells us what He is going to do it before it happens within scripture.  Jesus is the new Heaven  and the new earth, not until He takes the sin of the world upon Himself and fulfills the law, did these happen.   The Mosaic Covenant had been transformed into man's way by man, not what God has intended.   Today if we are not careful we can paint God into our image and likeness with our truth as man did in the past.   As a matter of fact the devil uses the same play book as he did in the past.

Jesus has this conversation just after the beatitudes which are the spirit of the law: Love.  "It was not through the law that the promise was made to Abraham and his descendants that he would inherit the world, but through the righteousness that comes from faith." Romans‬ ‭4:13‬

This scripture also speaks of the end of the world and the second coming of Jesus.  Every word written within scripture will be fulfilled and it is important that we sit with the Trinity with an open heart.  Today we live in a time where the deception is still being played out, where the law is being transformed into man's way and not the truth that it was intended for.

What is God saying to me?  I Am in control, listen with an attentive heart, be open to My truth even though it challenges ones way of thinking it is the Truth.

Dear Father, there is much packed within one verse in the Bible if we spend time with it.  You have revealed much in this verse that was unwrapped in time.  Thank You Lord for taking charge, for showing a deeper truth.  Help us Father see beyond the words to see the depth of Your teachings.  Prayers for the world being lead astray by falsehoods and the deception of the devil.  Give us the strength to do as Jesus did and speak truth into the lies.  Thank You Father for this day and all it has to offer.  Amen.

Week 5 - The Journey Day 2

Week 5 - The Journey Day 2

"Amen, amen, I say to you, when you were younger, you used to dress yourself and go where you wanted; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go."" ‭‭John‬ ‭21:18‬

Listening to God speak to Peter and then see how this conversation transformed Peter as Peter did as Jesus did.  Jesus challenges Peter in His love for God, getting Peter to affirm his love and Peter's last response was: "He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter was distressed that he had said to him a third time, "Do you love me?" and he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." [Jesus] said to him, "Feed my sheep."  ‭‭John‬ ‭21:17‬‬  Now Jesus tells Peter what his future holds after he had gone back to being a fishermen.

This conversation must of helped Peter understand the call for His life, how many times in his life did Peter experience this conversation.  Peter spoke to God directly in the flesh and then over his life he spoke to God spiritually.  What is God saying to me?  Peter answered this question regularly just like you and I.   The time we spend in conversation with God is a special time, watching as Jesus visits with His friend Peter.  You and I are offered this same friendship, there is joy in listening.  Be attentive to His voice in your life, it will carry you home!

What is God saying to me?  In the silence you can hear Me, you see Me move in the lives of those that I love and I love all.  Be at peace.

Dear Father, we are blessed beyond measure and I am thankful for all that You are doing.  In my daily walk, may I be attentive to those that You love, help me keep the focus on what is important and not get distracted by the unimportant aspects of life.  Thank You Lord for the memories, I trust in You for You know everything and I don't have to know.  Prayers for friends embarking on a new adventure, bless them with insights that bring about Your Kingdom.   I ask this in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Week 5 - The Journey Day 1

Week 5 - The Journey Day 1

"On that day you will not question me about anything. Amen, amen, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you."  John‬ ‭16:23‬

On that day, this is where God and I are conversing on.  Is Jesus referring to a specific day?  This verse comes before: "So you also are now in anguish. But I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you."  John‬ ‭16:22‬  This is a conversation that Jesus is having with His Disciples and us, have we gotten to the point in our relationship that He is our God and that we trust Him.

Now on that day, we can ask in His name for He is God and a friend, one that you know intimately.  Love is the emotion that controls your thoughts and actions, His thoughts become Your thoughts.  That is a specific day and one that we each will experience with faithful prayer and consistency.   Our Father hears our prayers and will answer each one of them but not necessarily on our time line.

What is God saying to me?  On that day, My Will has become your will, we have become one with purpose.  My Son Jesus and I were one, He did not question the direction where we were going for He knew Me.

Dear Father, I am almost at a loss of words as we visit, seeking to know You isn't easy at times.  I am thankful for these chances to really seek and learn to understand how we are to communicate together and work together.  I thank You for the opportunities to trust in Your Divine will, for each day offers lots of challenges.  Prayers for a friend celebrating 20 years of marriage today and experiencing the great adventure that You offer, bless him Father with grace and a future that brings abundant life.  Thank You for this day and the grace to do Your will, I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 4 - The Journey Day 6

Week 4 - The Journey Day 6

"Amen, amen, I say to you, you will weep and mourn, while the world rejoices; you will grieve, but your grief will become joy."  ‭‭John‬ ‭16:20‬

The Journey.  Are you ever really satisfied in the world?  Truth be known the answer is no because once you have accomplished that goal or task, the joy is but for a minute.  The joy that Jesus is talking about is eternity.  Our lives here on earth are but a bleep in time and our earthly existence is over.   If you are living for this world then the little joy you do experience is filled with an eternity of pain and sorrow.

Jesus is calling us to live our faith, to be His hands and His feet here on earth.  His life wasn't easy and His real joy and happiness came upon His resurrection.  "Those who sow in tears will reap with cries of joy. Those who go forth weeping, carrying sacks of seed, Will return with cries of joy, carrying their bundled sheaves."  ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭126:5-6‬.  I go back to little eyes are watching, we all want what is best for our children so does God so carry your sack of seed and do His bidding.  "Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.""  ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭9:37-38‬

What is God saying to me?  Nothing goes unnoticed, these valley and hills you see will be made flat.

Dear Father, it is good we are here and I get to listen to You.  My heart is not at rest until it rest in thee, I know You know what I am talking about.  We live in a world that was created for us but this is not our home.  Help us see what brings You joy and may we imitate the One You sent to follow.  Prayers for a productive week without any distractions.  Prayers for a safe week that accomplishes Your mission and purpose for each of us.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 4 - The Journey Day 5

Week 4 - The Journey Day 5

"Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these, because I am going to the Father."  ‭‭John‬ ‭14:12‬

Journeying with Christ and the Apostles is a great journey.  Their lack of understanding is also our lack of understanding and their great trust is also our great trust.  Dwelling within these stories is our story and where we are at in the journey.   "For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you."  ‭‭John‬ ‭13:15‬.  There are many examples and our lives emulate these examples.

Jesus as Son of Man was just that a man like you and I who was living the great adventure.  Trusting in where God, His Father and our Father, where He was taking Jesus and us.  In listening to Jesus we learn who the Father is and how we, in this time are to respond to the call of the Father.  There is also another example of a father and another's example who has believed in his father's lies.  If we are truthful with ourselves we as well have been in this place in life.  It isn't until we explore, listen, and respond to God's call is truth revealed to us.

So what are we to do, if we are going to do things greater than Jesus?  We are not going to do them without God, for a slave is not greater than the Master.  But together as God speaks into our hearts and our response to Him is what He is talking about.  Jesus walks with us and is in us along with the Father and the Holy Spirit.  Living a life of Hope is a great gift as well as believing that you are the child of the King.  The Father takes great pride in His children so listen attentively, respond to what He asks and trust.

I have heard several stories recently of God's children doing miraculous things, it wasn't the person but it was Christ within.  Know the gifts that You have and trust, all it takes is faith.

What is God saying to me?  I have your life in My hands, you trust your life with others you do not know, trust in where We are going.  Be at peace in all situations.

Dear Father, there is a joy in watching You at work in others as we all journey Home.  You are doing many great things and many know of Your great deeds.  Awaken our senses and perception to the gifts that You have already given us.   Help us continue to develop the trust in You so that others can come to know the great abiding love You have for us.  The world is in need of what Jesus teaches, May we be attentive to His calling in our lives.  Prayers for a friend who recently experienced a heart attack even in this You have a greater plan for his life.   Bless this day Lord, may we be thankful for all that You are doing, in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 4 - The Journey Day 4

Week 4 - The Journey Day 4

"Jesus answered, "Will you lay down your life for me? Amen, amen, I say to you, the cock will not crow before you deny me three times.""  John‬ ‭13:38‬

God knows us better than we know ourselves and He still loves us.  Jesus going to His crucifixion knew Peter would deny Him.   Peter relying upon his own strength thought he would lay down his life for Christ.  He as well knew that Jesus was on his way to death but, Jesus was ready to lay His life down.  "After he took the morsel, Satan entered him. So Jesus said to him, "What you are going to do, do quickly.""  John‬ ‭13:27‬

Preservation of life is built within us, we seek ways to avoid danger especially if there is no cause, this fight wasn't Peters yet.  Peter had been on the fringes where Jesus was in the game.  "Jesus answered, "Will you lay down your life for me?"  I can only imagine from this point forward for Peter, every time a cock crowed Peter was reminded of his weakness and the need to rely upon God to give him strength.  It isn't our own strength that helps us fight the battle, it is Christ within and recognizing where the real power comes from.   Peter figured this out and did lay down his life with the power of the Holy Ghost.  We are offered that same reality.

What is God saying to me?  Love these little ones, they are watching and learning by your example.  Live the faith that I have given within you.  Greater is I that is in you that he that is in the world.

Dear Father, the rooster crowing this morning was a nice touch, something not normally there.  Your timing of events are always perfect and nothing happens without Your knowing.  Help us recognize the areas of our lives that where we are relying upon our own strength and deny You the opportunity to change our world.  You will remind us how You play an active part in our lives.   Prayers for those that are over critical of themselves And thinking that everything is within their own control, including me.  I ask this in the name above every other name, Jesus Christ, Amen.

Week 4 - The Journey Day 3

Week 4 - The Journey Day 4

"When he had said this, Jesus was deeply troubled and testified, "Amen, amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me.""  ‭‭John‬ ‭13:21‬

What a watershed moment in the lives of the disciples and for the Son of Man, Jesus.  I was struck by Jesus's reaction to His words, did he have an aha moment.  He is the Word of God yet He was the Son of Man, as they gathered together and read scripture did Jesus realize His betrayer was in the room with Him.

How about the other disciples and their reaction to this truth, Jesus never spoke any falsehood so how were they feeling by this statement?   What about Judas, the betrayer who had already put the plan into action.  Was Jesus trying to reach Him, one last opportunity to come clean, after all we each have free will to make our choices.

They are not easy words to listen to for they strike at the heart and make us ponder our own actions.  Betray is a very strong word and requires our willful knowledge of what we are doing yet God offers us the opportunity's  for redemption by just looking into His eyes and admitting our fault.  This was the option Judas had but he chose not to confess.  When their eyes met, Jesus could see that there was nothing He could do to stop Him and He was lost to the devil.  "May they be blotted from the book of life; not registered among the just!"  Psalms‬ ‭69:29‬

In our conversations with God with scripture, He will speak to you, I imagined this is what happened to the Son of Man as they celebrated the Passover meal together and the Eucharistic feast.

What Is God saying to me?

Dear Father God, I am thankful for the opportunity to learn at your feet and to listen to the insights of You through others.   In pondering Your word and listening, the journey continues to develop.  I thank You for the grace of time and steeping in this mystical event.  Allowing ourselves to be steeped in our faith brings about understanding.  Help us to be inquisitive in Scripture, help us ask so we can go deeper.  As the layers are being peeled back there is more to what meets the eye.  Prayers for a friend suffering from the effects of Covid, bring about Peace that calms the soul.  Thank You Father for this day and all it is offering, Amen.

Happy feast of sacred heart !!!

The devotion to the Sacred Heart (also known as the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Sacratissimum Cor Iesu in Latin) is one of the most widely practised and well-known Catholic devotions, wherein the heart of Jesus is viewed as a symbol of "God's boundless and passionate love for mankind.

Week 4 - The Journey Day 2

Week 4 - The Journey Day 2

"Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me."  John‬ ‭13:20‬

The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, the Trinity all in one sentence.   An interesting question I was asked this morning: Do you trust God?  My answer is yes, I like most everyone else would like to know what is coming but can't see tomorrow.  Jesus has accounted for this with His disciples.  "From now on I am telling you before it happens, so that when it happens you may believe that I AM."  ‭‭John‬ ‭13:19‬

Who was Jesus sending to His disciples?  "And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always, the Spirit of truth, which the world cannot accept, because it neither sees nor knows it. But you know it, because it remains with you, and will be in you."  ‭‭John‬ ‭14:16-17‬.  The Spirit of truth, we all need help and here is our help.

I may not know what tomorrow holds exactly but I have learned to recognize truth by slowing down and controlling my emotions.  We are not alone on the journey, God has sent help through family, friends and the Advocate.   Now a question for you: Have you received the one whom Jesus has sent?

What is God saying to me? I come to you in a whisper, a perception, the loudest voice does not belong to me, this voice came to deceive, destroy and confuse.  Be patient, allow others to figure it out.     Jealousy is not of Me.

Dear Father, there is consolation in our daily conversations, in sitting in the quiet listening to Your guidance.  The disciples world got turned upside down but their ability to navigate it was complete through the help of the Trinity.  You know my thoughts and concerns and I will leave it in your hands, your ways are much better than mine anyway.  Prays of thanksgiving for our relationship and for Your Advocate's help, You have it already addressed before I have even asked.  To the Trinity be the glory, Amen.

Week 4 - The Journey Day 1

Week 4 - The Journey Day 1

"Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him."  John‬ ‭13:16‬

Do you know better than God?  Judas thought so and his friend Jesus speaks truth to him as he has just gotten his feet washed.  Judas wasn't listening, he had already made his mind up that his way was better.  Pride had gotten the better of Judas, why would he listen to Jesus.  Jesus on the other hand had submitted Himself to the disciples being their servant, a slave, by washing their feet.

When we submit ourselves to the authority of those that God has placed over us and trust in God's Divine will then we are giving the best parts of ourselves away.  We aren't eaten up with our own pride and ego and allowing this sin to get the better of us.  Judas couldn't let go of his sin of pride and Jesus went to extraordinary lengths to reach him.

Authority in our own lives has purpose, when we get the big head then we are taking God out of the equation.  Allow God to work with you, in a covenant relationship the thinking is the same and if it isn't there is mutual respect to sit and visit with each other.  Allow God to speak, Father knows best.

What is God saying to me:  Give it time, My way is better.

Dear Father, I see Jesus suffering as the one He loves goes against Your will, even as they broke bread together Jesus knew His spirit and couldn't change it.  Allow us to see ways in where we play god and question why, thinking we know better.  When we do reach out, may we not impose our will upon another and allow You to reach the lost and forsaken.  Prayers for those in very difficult position having to make decisions that would appear to go against Your will from a worldly viewpoint.   Watch over us this day, help us avoid the sin of Pride so we may better serve You.  In Jesus name, Amen.  Triune God be my all.  Triune God be my all.  Triune God be my all.

Week 3 - The Journey Day 7

Week 3 - The Journey Day 7

"Amen, amen, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit."  John‬ ‭12:24‬

A grain of wheat knows what its nature is and it produces exactly what it was designed for.  Jesus being the perfect son also knows what His purpose is and produces exactly what His purpose was.  "Jesus answered them, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified."  ‭‭John‬ ‭12:23‬  Jesus knew this and knew His time had come.  What about us?  Have we been created to be the best accountant, carpenter, office position, welder?  Our nature calls us home to Heaven, we are called to use the talents giving us by God to the best of our abilities but not to glorify self but to glorify God.

"Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will preserve it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there also will my servant be. The Father will honor whoever serves me."  ‭‭John‬ ‭12:25-26‬.  Where is Jesus calling you to be?  In what ways are you being asked to die to self that the Father may be honored?

What is God saying to me?  In time likes these, when you are considering the meaning of these words.  We are in communion for we are together in thought and prayer.  Do not concern yourself about the next step, Jesus did what was put in front of Him and stayed in communion with Me.

Dear Father, Your words challenge me today as I ponder them, in seeking their meaning in my life.  I thank You for the gift of another year and for our relationship together.  Watch over us this day and keep us safe, help us recognize our true nature and fulfill Your plan for our lives.   I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 3 - The Journey Day 6

 Week 3 - The Journey Day 6

"So Jesus said again, "Amen, amen, I say to you, I am the gate for the sheep."  ‭‭John‬ ‭10:7‬

Who is your master?  Sheep know their masters voice and they follow Him.  Each day we make choices to heed a voice, one that directs our lives.  Being a follower of Jesus means we know His voice and we listen to it.  This relationship is taught through the examples of others in His flock.  It is taught by the way they act in various situations and how they respond to the events of their lives.  Knowing that the Good Shepherd is in control, that you have entered through the gate and in all situations, with an obedient heart, all will be well.

"Jesus said to him, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."  ‭‭John‬ ‭14:6‬.  Touching the Divine nature is a journey, this trust is built up over time, in a daily conversation through words and life events.  Entering in as one of His flock is where each one of the saints got to in life.  Read the stories in the Bible, each learned where the gate was and willingly entered in.   Be one of His sheep.

What is God saying to me?  Live, laugh and love.

Dear Father, I hear the calling in my life to just experience You in all the events of each day.  We have journeyed far together, much farther than if I had gone it alone.  It is a welcome site to visit with You and hear Your voice in many different ways.  Lead us Lord in through the Divine Gate, help us become faithful followers of Your Son Jesus.  Prayers for those in the darkness not finding comfort in the things outside of Your protective wall.   I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 3 - The Journey Day 5

Week 3 - The Journey Day 5

"Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever does not enter a sheepfold through the gate but climbs over elsewhere is a thief and a robber."  ‭‭John‬ ‭10:1‬

The words of Christ, do you hear them.  Listening to Jesus requires critical thinking and listening, what is He telling us.  Jesus is the gate, those that heed His voice are the sheep, are under His guidance, and enter through the gate.   Those that enter by climbing over is a thief and a robber, He was addressing the Jews who were not being guided by God, who were not listening to Truth but being deceived by the thief and robber.

Heaven will not be stolen, it will only be gained through Jesus.  Jesus offers us the invitation, He speaks truth, God is love.  The Pharisees had been listening to another voice, they had made God into their own image, to fit their own will.  The devil came to deceive, examine your viewpoint is it of God or have you been deceived.  As we listen to God in daily prayer it becomes much easier to recognize God speaking compared to the robber.  Jesus came to save not to condemn.

What is God saying to me?  My Saints and Holy Family lived a life of virtue by offering themselves up in quiet sacrifice.  Measure yourself against their example and continue on the journey, much will be learned by contemplating My Word.

Dear Father, I thank You for Your Holy Family and their guidance.  I thank You for the gift of Yourself this morning in the Eucharist and mass.  We live in a world that drowns out Your voice with many voices all seeking to serve self.  You sit patiently, speaking truth seeing who is listening and preparing themselves for the future.  May we live the scriptures in our daily lives and offer ourselves up as a pleasing offering to You.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 3 - The Journey Day 3

Week 3 - The Journey Day 3

"Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, before Abraham came to be, I AM.""  John‬ ‭8:58‬

Jesus, as Son of Man speaks of His deity, He speaks truth to the Jewish leadership, He speaks of His role within the Trinity but why?  He knew this would infuriate those he was debating with.  He knew they questioned who he was, why would the son of Joesph be God in their minds.  They thought they knew the faith and were willing to condemn another to death because he would not think like they did.

Yet Jesus stands in their midst and tells them exactly who He is, challenging their thinking and not getting emotionally charged.  You ever debate someone on a religious truth and everyone is getting emotionally charged?  Truth is truth, it speaks for itself just as Jesus did, He is God.  Allowing our emotions to interfere with our thinking keeps us blinded to the truth.  What lessons can we learn by just watching the Son of Man have a religious debate.

I know what I know and no one convinced me because of how they said it, Truth speaks for itself.  Jesus spoke this truth to them because as teachers of the Law it was not being done out of love, it was self serving.  He knew the zeal they had to crucify Him and as God, He loves His creation, He wants nothing but the best for us so He has to get our attention to help us see the error of our thinking.

What is God saying to me?  I AM, in your midst and with you throughout your day.  Listen for My voice and see Me at work within you.  My creation denies who I Am is, you know Truth and that is what I ask of My creation.

Dear Father, I sit and watch Jesus witness to who He is and who You are.  I enjoy watching You at work and no matter the situation seeing You speak truth in a situation that one side is emotionally charged and only reflecting truth back.  Watch over us this day Lord, help us chose the proper path forward, as You know it isn't clear and I only seek Your will for my life.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 3 - The Journey Day 1

Week 3 - The Journey Day 1

"Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever keeps my word will never see death."" John‬ ‭8:51‬

Are you afraid of dying?  You don't have to be, Jesus tells us so along with a truth: keep His word.  You ever argue with God?  He doesn't get upset, doesn't yell, just speaks the truth.  As I watch this morning, Jesus is having a debate with some very close minded people blinded to the truth.  Their own fallacy's, their own truths which are self serving are preventing them to listen.  Death is something we will all face, our last breath on earth.  What does that look like?

Jesus can not lie so I will take Him at His literal word and not see death, God willing.  How can I say that?  "Whoever belongs to God hears the words of God; for this reason you do not listen, because you do not belong to God.""  ‭‭John‬ ‭8:47‬.  In our daily lives we have choices, do we listen to God, do we hear His word and keep it?   The Jews heard Jesus but they were not listening, they didn't enter into a conversation with Him.  They were too busy trying to condemn Him and prove they were right.  They were trapped in their sins.

We are all going to die, I imagine it is like falling asleep and then waking up.  The world I live in today is surrounded by God, it is He that I trust and in that day when I awake on the other side of my physical body, I see the same loving Father there, hands outstretched ready to receive another son, one who sits and listens to Him in an age that isn't easy.

What is God saying to me?

Dear Father, I see the struggle in everyday life and yet You carry me through each circumstance.  I pray I am never closed minded to Your truth, I pray that I stand when called upon to speak truth and I pray I react as Jesus did, calmly and with purpose.  This journey through time is filled with pit falls. Your word speaks truth to my soul beyond the words, it also speaks in images.  I pray for those afraid of death bring them into Your open arms and give them the grace of sight.  I ask this in Your most holy name, Abba Father, Amen.

Week 2 - The Journey Day 6

Week 2 - The Journey Day 6

"Jesus answered them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin."  John‬ ‭8:34‬

This is an interesting exchange between Jesus and the Jews trying to trap Him.  All have sinned, yet being a slave there is a way out of this enslavement, and He is standing in front of them.  "A slave does not remain in a household forever, but a son always remains."  John‬ ‭8:35‬.  The Son of God is the answer and He tells them the keys to eternal life.   "Jesus then said to those Jews who believed in him, "If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.""  John‬ ‭8:31-32‬

Jesus does not force His will upon the Jews, He try's to get them to see the error of their ways.  As the leaders, they are trying to kill Him, God is love, this father they are following is the god of lies, they are sons of perdition.

All have sinned, I will sin today, hopefully not intentionally.  With Jesus as our example, we can live better lives, we can follow His example and turn to God the Father.  Sin will enslave you and you can become dead to the truth even as He stands in front of you.   It is His example that will set you free, the rightful heir to the throne making us adoptive sons and daughters.

What is God saying to me?

Dear Father, it is another busy day with lots of things that are in need of attention.  Thank You for exercising my thinking this morning in Your word.  Thank You for the example Your Son gives as He is being condemned neither bitter or self serving just speaking the Truth.  Help us recognize how our own will, will either free us from sin or trap is to sin.   I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
