Week 5 - The Journey Day 5

Week 5 - The Journey Day 5

"Amen, I say to you, you will not be released until you have paid the last penny."  ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:26‬

Jesus is teaching Truth, these are His words, there is consequences to our sins.  A penny isn't a lot of money but it takes into account the smallest of sins.  As a Catholic, I get to go to confessions and I receive penance at the end of my confessions.  This is a form of payment for my sins and full forgiveness is given when completed.  Jesus believes in payment for our transgressions, He taught it.

He also speaks of prison or a place of holding, where is this place is it just here on earth or is it a location in the afterlife?  Jesus paid the full price of my sins so why does He teach this in scripture.  Jesus dying on the cross for each of us isn't to be abused, to live as we freely chose without consequences.  Jesus teaches us to obey His word, He uses the words "you have paid", why would He not use the word I?   Something to ponder today in our daily walk, we are all called to a life of holiness, to live out our faith to the best of our abilities.  Being conscious of our own sinfulness and recognizing there is consequences helps us.

Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads, living out your calling to fatherhood is a great responsibility, little eyes are watching and our actions will be copied.

What is God saying to me?

Dear Father, Happy Fathers Day, Thank You for being a great Dad, for ensuring we have the ability to be taught and the freedom to choose our path in life.  Help us choose the better path in life, draw us closer to You in subtle ways.  Reveal Truth to us that becomes ingrained in our journey.  Thank You Father for the beautiful bride You gave me 34 years ago, she is a true blessing in my life and the lives of all the kids.  Continue to bless our marriage and may it continue to bear fruit.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Mary, Mother of Love, Pray for us
