Week 6 - The Journey Day 7
"Amen, I say to you, among those born of women there has been none greater than John the Baptist; yet the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he." Matthew 11:11
John points to Jesus, this was his mission in life but, Jesus points to Heaven and to what John was doing. No matter what we do here on earth, it is still Jesus that gets us to Heaven. All the right things and being good are nothing if we don't have Jesus. John the Baptist as great as he was, is nothing compared to the Saints in Heaven.
We are each called to prepare the way for Christ, and we must humble ourselves like John and Jesus. (Jesus was born of a woman). The gifts and talents we have, have been given to us from God, without God we are nothing. John learned to listen to God, he prepared himself to hear God's voice. He recognized what was going on around him because he read and spoke what was written. Reading scripture and proclaiming His Truth is a big part of our relationship with God. John responded to God's voice, he was driven to live his life the way he did because that is what God called him too. What about you? Can you hear the voice of God in your life?
What is God saying to me? As you listen, you make connections in old and New Testament that brings the picture to life. You seen Zechariah reading and passing along to his son, John. Listening is also seeing Me move in the lives of others.
Dear Father, You are painting the picture, connecting the dots and giving understanding that opens up Your word. I thank You for the desire You have placed upon my heart. I will be faithful each day to this call and will respond to the best of my abilities. Prayers for a friend going in for a heart procedure this morning, calm his nerves and give his wife Peace as they wait upon You for blessings. Watch over us this day Lord and keep us safe, in Jesus name, Amen.
Mary, Queen of Peace, Pray for us.
St Joesph, Terror of Demons. Pray for us.
