Week 6 - The Journey Day 1
""When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, who love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on street corners so that others may see them. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward." Matthew 6:5
Whom are you serving? Self or God? Jesus rephrases His statement as He teaches the Disciples, He is working at the heart of the matter. The previous comment was on alms, this one is on prayer but the Amen, I say to you is the same. If we are serving self than we have been given what our hearts desired, to be recognized.
"But when you pray, go to your inner room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will repay you." Matthew 6:6
How is your prayer life? God sees all, including your heart, Jesus is giving the Disciples a key to navigate life just as He did in the previous verse. Sitting with God in silence, just you and God, do you do this? Jesus as Son of Man, spent many an hour alone in prayer, He went to His Father in Heaven for spiritual guidance. How many of us go to this place, to bring the challenges of our life to Him. How many sit as an observer to see what is really going on. God seeks the heart of all situations and you are at the heart of His desire. This inner room is a place you can go to and bare all, nothing is hidden from God. He sees all, just as Jesus did with His followers.
What is God saying to me? I will continue to work on the heart, You keep coming. It does not happen overnight but over time.
Dear Father, it is good that I am here, You are showing me my heart and also working on it. I see Jesus teaching and I see You teaching. You never promised any of us an easy life but You do promise to love us and all I seek is Your love and satisfaction. Prayers for a friend been given some time to think, may we all learn to come to You in the inner room and come out with the glory of You. I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
Mary, Mother of Love, Pray for us.
