Genesis 32:27-31 7-9-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

"The man then said, "Let me go, for it is daybreak." But Jacob said, "I will not let you go until you bless me." "What is your name?" the man asked. He answered, "Jacob." Then the man said, "You shall no longer be named Jacob, but Israel, because you have contended with divine and human beings and have prevailed." Jacob then asked him, "Please tell me your name." He answered, "Why do you ask for my name?" With that, he blessed him. Jacob named the place Peniel, "because I have seen God face to face," he said, "yet my life has been spared."" Genesis‬ ‭32:27-31‬

I think in some ways we all wrestle with God and our own humanity.  Does St Paul not speak of this in Scripture: "For I do not do the good I want, but I do the evil I do not want. Now if [I] do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me."
‭‭Romans‬ ‭7:19-20‬. In knowing that you are wrestling with God and self is the beginning of understanding.  God can not win this fight for you, it is you who must prevail with the flesh and blood of Jesus.  Even though God can't win it for us, He gives us His Son to lead the way.   It is He who spares your life, get to know Him.

What is God saying to me: I wrestle with many, it is when you die to self, than I raise up.

Dear Father, I thank You for waking this morning refreshed and ready for the day.  I thank You for listening and giving direction.  I ask for help today with the right people in the right places.  I ask for the ability to understand and choose the right path forward with a business decision.  I pray for a friend who is struggling, give him peace in the middle of the storm.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Mary, Ark of the Covenant, pray for us.

Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.  1 John 4:4b
