"Lamech lived one hundred and eighty-two years, and became the father of a son. Now he called his name Noah, saying, "This one will give us rest from our work and from the toil of our hands arising from the ground which the LORD has cursed." Then Lamech lived five hundred and ninety-five years after he became the father of Noah, and he had other sons and daughters. So all the days of Lamech were seven hundred and seventy-seven years, and he died." Genesis 5:28-31
"And he died." We all have to face our own mortality, for some we avoid the thought, others it gives them no bother. Our ancestry makes up who we are but not who's we are. We get to choose that path and our choices add to our heritage and will passed along. The next generation is in your midst and are watching. They see actions and how you live, this gets written into their DNA. Noah did not become the man he was on his own, there are many generations before him and after. Reading the lineages in scripture can seem mundane but these people are the heritage of Jesus and of you when you become adopted sons and daughters.
What is God saying to me: (God painted an image of a cup of hot water with a tea bag in it as I steeped in His Word. It is penetrating my entire being. This is what happens when we are waiting on the Lord to reveal His truth.)
Dear Father, I thank You for the lesson today, to see many years of my family and how they passed on Your plan of salvation to the next generation. May You never be forgotten within my family tree, may our actions always speak of You. I thank You Father for the things You have laid out in front of us, give us courage to accomplish your mission and give us the grace of indifference in the outcome. I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
Mary, Tower of David, pray for us.
