Week 33 - The Journey Advent The Holy Name of Jesus
"You belong to God, children, and you have conquered them, for the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. They belong to the world; accordingly, their teaching belongs to the world, and the world listens to them. We belong to God, and anyone who knows God listens to us, while anyone who does not belong to God refuses to hear us. This is how we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of deceit. God's Love and Christian Life." 1 John 4:4-6
It is a journey! Today is the feast of the Most Holy Name of Jesus, it is a blessing to know His name and recognize the One who lives on the inside. "She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."" Matthew 1:21
We live in an instant world and are taught that it is at the ready, right at our fingertips yet we study for our careers, we study and learn to parent. We study our finances and invest for the future but when it comes to God we do not give Him time in our lives maybe an hour or two at Church. We expect God to do the rest, to work miracles in our lives.
Jesus spent three years with His disciples then He left and gives us His Holy Spirit. It is He within, when we listen and respond, will help us respond to do His will. Do not expect miracles, do not expect overnight results but with daily devotion, you will come to know Him, you will come to know our Holy Family. The choice is ours to decide that which we give the most importance to, the things of this world or our eternal future.
What is God saying to me?
Dear Father, happy feast day! You gave us Your Son and You knew He would die for our sins, You show us Your love in action, You give us Hope over the ways of this world. Teach us Your ways that we may walk in the truth of Your Son, Jesus. Father, thank You for giving us the Mother of Your Son, the Holy Temple that carried Him into history. Give us Your love that we may reside with You forever. I ask this in the Most Holy Name of Jesus, Amen.
