Week 36 - The Journey

 Week 36 - The Journey

"In the days of Herod, king of Judea, there was a priest named Zacharias, of the division of Abijah; and he had a wife from the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. They were both righteous in the sight of God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and requirements of the Lord. But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both advanced in years."  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:5-7‬

Letter of the law vs spirit of the law   A time for silence, how does silence impact our lives?  Are we afraid of silence, or do we cherish silence?  Do we make time for silence.

Zacharias, was given a time to ponder only his thoughts, his voice would not be heard.  His walk may have become laborious, righteous and blameless but lacked something.  He may have been disconnected to the presence of God in his life.  These times God gives us to ponder and reflect may seem like difficult crosses to bear but in reality they are gifts with hidden treasures.  It is an opportunity to touch the Divine nature of God and be transformed.

The boy, growing in Elizabeth's womb did not hear his fathers voice until the day of his circumcision.  John was being knit in his mother's womb with only his mother's voice and the absence of Zechariah's.   How would this period of silence impact the child in the future.

We can do all the right things, follow all the commandments to a T and yet still not know the Divinity of Christ.  Time in silence and listening reveals hidden mysteries that you can only experience on your own with God.

What is God saying to me?  You have tasted the Joy of life, this can not be taken away unless you let it.

Dear Father, what a blessing to walk with You and see what You are doing.  I see the love You have for us and how You are bringing all things together.  Give us the heart to listen in the quiet of silence and reveal who You are in us.  Prayers for a blessed and safe day, prayers for all the crosses being carried this day without Jesus.  I ask this in the name of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, Amen.
