Week 36 - The Journey

Week 36 - The Journey

"When the time arrived for Elizabeth to have her child she gave birth to a son. Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown his great mercy toward her, and they rejoiced with her. When they came on the eighth day to circumcise the child, they were going to call him Zechariah after his father, but his mother said in reply, "No. He will be called John." He asked for a tablet and wrote, "John is his name," and all were amazed. Immediately his mouth was opened, his tongue freed, and he spoke blessing God."  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:57-60, 63-64‬

God's faithfulness.  I sit and watch a couple faithfully serve God, following the tradition of our faith.  In their own lives, they yearn for a child and non have come.  Yet they continue faithfully serving God.  Their lives were the seed for the life that John the Baptist would face, a life of hardships.  The lessons they learned would be passed on to him.

It is easy to take a bite of the apple, believe the lie and walk away from God's faithfulness.  It takes strong wills and minds to stay the course when life has dealt you unfairness.  Especially when God has the power and you doubt if He hears.

Tradition matters, being faithful matters, it plays a huge role in the next generation.  Zechariah's name means "Yahweh remembers" and He does.  John's name means "God has mercy."  No matter where you are at in the journey, God is there with you.  "but, as he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in every aspect of your conduct, for it is written, "Be holy because I [am] holy." ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭1:15-16‬

What is God saying to me?  Listen

Dear Father, the deck seems stacked against us sometimes but You are always faithful.  Things don't always seem to make sense but You are always faithful.  I thank You for the blessings of this day and this time.  Continue fortifying the walls of our hearts to withstand the challenges that come our way.  Help us to be ever faithful to You with the knowledge that these are the seeds for the next generation.  I ask this in Your most holy name, Jesus Christ.
