Week 35 - The Journey

Week 35 - The Journey

"The angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For today in the city of David a savior has been born for you who is Messiah and Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find an infant wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.""  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭2:10-12‬

Preparing the feast.  It was Mary, the Mother of God who wrapped Jesus in the swaddling cloth indicating her commitment to what God asked of her, her total and undeniably commitment.  Do we recognize the subtleness of God in our own lives?  Are we willing to be as committed as Mary, forsaking all for the will of God.

The shepherds in the field selected the perfect spotless lambs for the temple worship.  The lambs that would be sacrificed and offered up to God.  They recognized the coming Messiah and His meaning being wrapped in swaddling cloth, the perfect sacrifice.   Was Mary aware of the significance of the cloth that Jesus was wrapped in, was she aware of what this would identify with others in the future.  What about the town of Bethlehem which means house of Bread where Jesus was born.

God is preparing the feast, He is guiding those who listen to be able to see and comprehend what is going on and what is coming.   We all want great big glaring signs that point the way but God gives us the ability to think for ourselves and to be engaged with our senses.  He prepares the feast that satisfies.  "The hungry he has filled with good things; the rich he has sent away empty."  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:53‬.  May we always remain humble.

What is God saying to me?  I am still preparing hearts to receive that which satisfies.

Dear Lord God, I see the Mother of Your Son witnessing to the Truth, doing what was asked of her and proclaiming the good news without uttering a word.  Our Mother knows best and in that love she shares with Jesus she gives to us.  Awaken our senses to the reality of Your subtle nature, may we ponder in our hearts the meaning of these things.  Prayers for changed hearts that give without price and live without being controlled by fear.   I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Mary, Mother of God, Pray for us.
St Joesph, Terror of Demons, Pray for us.
