Daily Thoughts - Make God Known. Memorial of the Queenship of Mary.
1221 But above all, the crossing of the Red Sea, literally the liberation of Israel from the slavery of Egypt, announces the liberation wrought by Baptism:
- You freed the children of Abraham from the slavery of Pharaoh,
bringing them dry-shod through the waters of the Red Sea,
to be an image of the people set free in Baptism.16
Free. We can learn a lot by what the Israelites did with their new found freedom. Their story repeats itself over and over again and so does God's message of mercy. With freedom comes responsibility to do the next right thing. Learn the path they followed and you will understand your own, as well as see the way forward. Baptism is only the beginning.
"The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; Upon those who lived in a land of gloom a light has shone." Isaiah 9:1. The North Star shines brightly in a land surrounded. Our readings today tell us to go, to bring the good news into the world. To live out our baptism and new birth within the life of the Church. As the Israelites followed the will of God they operated within His Divine grace, when they didn't they fell victim to the plunders of this world. Their story is our story, with wisdom comes responsibility to do the next right thing.
Dear Father, we have been blessed with another day, each day builds upon the previous. I am thankful we begin together and end together in a world that stands against truth. The story has already been written, may we each see the vital role we each play within the life of the Church. Prayers for this day and all it has to offer, may we do the next right thing. Love Your son.
