Daily Thoughts - Make God Known.
Christ's Baptism
1223 All the Old Covenant prefigurations find their fulfillment in Christ Jesus. He begins his public life after having himself baptized by St. John the Baptist in the Jordan.17 After his resurrection Christ gives this mission to his apostles: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you."18
Jesus entered the waters of the Jordan and came out a new man. How can I say that? We only begin to hear about the life of the Church and how we are to respond once He comes out of the water. His baptism of water was the beginning of His ministry of being Teacher and His baptism of resurrection is His mission call to us.
""Come here. I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb."" Revelation 21:9b. The life of the Church, are you watching its persecution wondering when God will return or are you living its mission by living out His mission. Life has purpose and that purpose is to live for God, the glory of the Lord is to make Him known. Jesus lived His life as the Son of Man proclaiming eternal salvation and loving His creation even in the pain of sin.
Keep God close and remember to bless yourself in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen. This simple sacramental rains down blessings from Heaven which helps us navigate our day. It is a remembrance of our very own baptism into the Kingdom of God.
Dear Lord God, You bless us each day with breath, with joy and with hope when we keep You close. I am thankful for the authority of Your Holy Church and the reminder of my baptism into it. Help us see our actions and with Your help, make them holy actions that brings about what You desire. Prayers for a special intention, I know You are at work. Love Your son.
