Daily Thoughts - Make God Known.
Newness of life. Do you look at life differently knowing you have died with Christ, and are raised with Him? Didn't know baptism was that powerful to be a new creation in Christ? Spend a little time pondering the newness of life, the joy of learning something new, being open to listening to God speak into Your heart.
1227 According to the Apostle Paul, the believer enters through Baptism into communion with Christ's death, is buried with him, and rises with him:
- Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.29
In todays Gospel reading Jesus speaks to the Scribes and Pharisees, they lay a heavy burden on their followers. The focus isn't upon the gift of God but upon themselves. They are not concerned for the other, they are concerned for themselves, looking for ways to satisfy their hunger. Jesus rebukes them and speaks of the true gift, the gift that comes from Heaven. We can find ourselves focusing upon the same thing and not recognizing the gift that God gives us.
Today is a new day, filled with hope and possibilities. Look at life differently, see the joy that God gives and be thankful in all situations. Remember you have died with Christ and have been raised with Him, how would He respond if He was in your shoes. P.S. Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4b. He is in your shoes, if you let Him.
Dear Father, I thank you for the gift of this day, for the newness that is brought when we begin together and end together. Watch over us this day, make us aware of our own reality and continue to call us to follow You. Thank You Father for the gift of Your Church, for the gift of life and for the peace that resides when You are in charge. Love Your son.
