Daily Thoughts - Make God Known
2756 Filial trust is put to the test when we feel that our prayer is not always heard. The Gospel invites us to ask ourselves about the conformity of our prayer to the desire of the Spirit.
Communion. Isn't it interesting when we get our prayers answered we are good with God but when we don't are we still good with God. Do we know within our heart of hearts that God knows what is best? As we read and hear scripture do we see God at work within and do we allow His word to transform our lives and our hearts. Do our desires change from serving self to serving God. This is the power of the Gospel in sharing the love of God with us to where we become one within the body of Christ. No matter the outcome that is desired, all is well for God will do what is best. Not my will be done but thy will be done.
Sometimes it takes years to see the will of God at work. The pain of not receiving as we think we should doesn't reveal the outcome of a prayer until much time has passed. Jesus faces the stubbornness of the heart many times over knowing that is how we are until we begin to be transformed by the life we choose and His teaching.
In the Gospel today, His own native place does not accept Him and what He is teaching. Is not that native place our very own souls? In my own life, I rejected the teaching of Christ by how I lived. Living for self and not for God. It isn't until we adopt a formal prayer life guided by the Holy Spirit do we begin to see the wisdom of God. "Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect." Romans 12:2
Dear Father God, there is a fire burning inside that can only be satisfied by You, You give us this fire in the Sacrament of Baptism. I am in awe of how You transform the heart thru the lessons we learn in every day living. I thank You Father and trust that all things work for good because I love You. Thank You for answered prayer even though we do not physically see the outcome. Much digging is needed if we are to find the treasure buried within the field. May we listen to Your will and become Your body, soul, blood and divinity over the course of our lives. Love Your son.
