Daily Thoughts - Make God Known

Daily Thoughts - Make God Known

III. FILIAL TRUST

2734 Filial trust is tested - it proves itself - in tribulation.22 The principal difficulty concerns the prayer of petition, for oneself or for others in intercession. Some even stop praying because they think their petition is not heard. Here two questions should be asked: Why do we think our petition has not been heard? How is our prayer heard, how is it "efficacious".

When I read this teaching of the Church, it makes me think of Jesus on the cross.  "My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?"  Even in His moment of despair, Jesus still turns to God.  For from within the heart, He knows as the son of man, He is not alone and God is at work.

Part of the filial trust is that throughout life as we traverse the path that God has us own, we learn that no matter what we are feeling or dealing with God will never abandon His child.  Just because we wrestle with our situations doesn't mean that God isn't there.  Do we recognize that within the tribulation God is at work upon the heart, refining it with fire.

In todays reading God wrestles with Jacob and Jacob comes to understand who God is and what He is asking of him.  Never underestimate how God is at work within your day.  We don't change for the better when life is easy.

"The man then said, "Let me go, for it is daybreak." But Jacob said, "I will not let you go until you bless me." "What is your name?" the man asked. He answered, "Jacob." Then the man said, "You shall no longer be named Jacob, but Israel, because you have contended with divine and human beings and have prevailed."" Genesis‬ ‭32‬:‭27‬-‭29‬

Dear Father, I don't like the wrestling but in it I am learning to dance with You.  If my world was perfect I would be in Heaven and I know that You know there is more to be done if I am to work out my salvation, the receiving of salvation is only the beginning of the journey.  Prayers of thanksgiving that within the tribulations of life You are revealing Your divine nature.   Love Your son.

Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.  1 John 4:4b
