Daily Thoughts - Make God Known
Catechism #2728 Finally, our battle has to confront what we experience as failure in prayer: discouragement during periods of dryness; sadness that, because we have "great possessions,"15 we have not given all to the Lord; disappointment over not being heard according to our own will; wounded pride, stiffened by the indignity that is ours as sinners; our resistance to the idea that prayer is a free and unmerited gift; and so forth. The conclusion is always the same: what good does it do to pray? To overcome these obstacles, we must battle to gain humility, trust, and perseverance.
The cost of freedom? Do we count the cost of our sacrifice of time to pray? A free gift from God to sit at His feet and listen to the swaying of life. To put things on the table and converse what is God's plan. The true cost isn't realized until we do not sacrifice the time given by Him to pray, to receive the free gift. Lot was saved by the prayers of Abraham, to be removed from the destruction. How much different would his life had been if he removed himself from a world destined for destruction through prayer. We celebrate the birth of our country, a country I wasn't born into but one I do not take for granted. Freedom is a gift much like prayer, do not take it for granted nor give it away for security. God is the answer to true freedom. Happy 4th of July. Spend the time given wisely.
Dear Father, another blessed morning spending time together. We are building together what it is that You desire. I thank You for the gift of this day and the land that You have provided. Prayers for our world that neglects to see the cost this country paid for its freedom. Help us not forget the One who died for us so we may have freedom in this world to live as we ought. Love Your son.

Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4b
