Facing temptations in prayer

2732 The most common yet most hidden temptation is our lack of faith. It expresses itself less by declared incredulity than by our actual preferences. When we begin to pray, a thousand labors or cares thought to be urgent vie for priority; once again, it is the moment of truth for the heart: what is its real love? Sometimes we turn to the Lord as a last resort, but do we really believe he is? Sometimes we enlist the Lord as an ally, but our heart remains presumptuous. In each case, our lack of faith reveals that we do not yet share in the disposition of a humble heart: "Apart from me, you can do nothing."²⁰

In the presence of God.  Do I have time to pray or not?  Do I have time to go to Church or not?  God gives us the time to honor and worship Him with the most precious gift of time.  The question that is being asked of us is what is our heart disposed to?

Prayer is transformative, speaking from personal experience.  The time given in prayer is life giving and life receiving.  It isn't a chore but a desire of the heart to sit and worship God in the silence of one's heart.  

"Consequently, brothers, we are not debtors to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh, you will die, but if by the spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live." ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭12‬-‭13‬ ‭ Understand that God seeks the heart, not our time or a check box.  Prayer can be almost anything if it is the will of the Father and not our earthly desires.  Be transformed by renewing Your mind within scripture. It breathes life into our souls. 

Dear Heavenly Father, I have and will enjoy our time today in prayer.  Our ears are always attentive to the desires of Your heart, may we recognize our own flesh when it speaks up and put it to death thru Your Spirit.  Protect us from the evil one today as he temps and seeks to divide us from our true nature of loving You.  Thank You Father for another day to do what is being asked.  Love Your son.
