Daily Thoughts - Make God Known

Daily Thoughts - Make God Known

2747 Christian Tradition rightly calls this prayer the "priestly" prayer of Jesus. It is the prayer of our high priest, inseparable from his sacrifice, from his passing over (Passover) to the Father to whom he is wholly "consecrated."44

"Keep still", speaks into my spirit this morning, words from yesterdays first reading.  As I contemplate Jesus's final hour, how many deaths must a man face before it is his last hour?  As a man, how many deaths did He face?  How about when He was asked to do something and He was tired, what did he do?  Or He had laid out His day and then His day got changed.  Did He go about his will or the will of the Father?  Is the Passover a moment in time or is it an opportunity each day to give it over to God?  "Just so, the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many."  ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭20‬:‭28‬

What role does the life of Christ play in your world?  Is it a fleeting moment each Sunday to make oneself feel good that the obligation has been fulfilled?  I go back to "keep still" with todays Gospel reading.  It is the feast of James, the first Apostle to be martyred.   His mother wanted a place of honor for her sons and her ego sought this from Jesus, something He couldn't give.  He gave something better, His life for theirs.

James faced his final hour after having to die to self and then willing accepting the Fathers will for the Glory of God was martyred.  His brother John faced his final hour after many small deaths along the way.   How did this one moment in time change the path of these two men.  How did John's quiet time when he was still be impacted by what God spoke into his spirit thru time.  Our depth of love comes from knowing God and what He is doing in you.  Listen to John as he speaks of his love for God as he writes about Jesus's final hour in John 17.  "And I consecrate myself for them, so that they also may be consecrated in truth."  John‬ ‭17‬:‭19‬

God speaks to us in the same way, if we like the apostles will die to self and just keep still so God can speak.  Have a blessed day, God has already seen the outcome and He said all will be well, please do My will.

Dear Father, thank You for the gift of time and for Your depth of love that speaks to a heart that seeks You.  I am thankful for what You are doing and for what You are bringing about.  May I, like Your disciples, listen with the heart and not allow the distractions of the world interfere with Your divine will.  Prayers for a friend undergoing some test, bless the outcome with Your grace.  Bless this day, use me as You will for Your glory.  Love Your son.

Mary, Queen of Saints, Pray for us.
St Joesph, Pray for us.
St Patrick, Pray for us.

Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.  1 John 4:4b
