Daily Thoughts - Make God Known
2730 In positive terms, the battle against the possessive and dominating self requires vigilance, sobriety of heart. When Jesus insists on vigilance, he always relates it to himself, to his coming on the last day and every day: today. The bridegroom comes in the middle of the night; the light that must not be extinguished is that of faith: "'Come,' my heart says, 'seek his face!'"17
Faith. Be a witness to it even in the events of life. We never know what tomorrow will bring but with faith there is no need for worry. As a sinful human, I want reassurance, I want control of my own destiny, I want to utilize my logical self, we have a lot of wants, all of us. Does that include seeking God out in the midst of the good and the bad. In todays readings Abraham demonstrates his faithfulness to God and his willingness to sacrifice what seems to be impossible.

Abraham's faith knew the heart of God, he knew that God would provide, that God would show a way. His want was to save his son, his brain was to save his son, his heart was to honor God. In being vigilant recognize what is pulling you away from the heart of God.
Dear Father, thank You for the rain that is brought into our day, thank You for the gift of life and the desire to seek You and Your will. May I be vigilant to what seeks to separate and allow Your heart to guide my steps. Prayers for friends in the battle field, may we have the faith of Abraham and trust in Your Divine providence. Love Your son.
