Daily Thoughts - We are an Easter People.

Daily Thoughts - We are an Easter People.

"Now this is the message that we have heard from him and proclaim to you: God is light, and in him there is no darkness at all. If we say, "We have fellowship with him," while we continue to walk in darkness, we lie and do not act in truth. But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, then we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of his Son Jesus cleanses us from all sin."  ‭‭1 John‬ ‭1‬:‭5‬-‭7‬

He is the light that illuminates the sin within.   How is Jesus transforming you as you walk with Him.  Or are you to preoccupied with the world to give Him any one on one time?

Dear Father, we live in a chaotic world that seeks to blind us to the Truth that Your Son reveals to us.  Help us carve out time each day and help us create healthy habits of listening to You.  Thank You for the gift of Christ that shines within helping to guide this soul.  May we all be conscious of our environment and how it is influencing us, may You be the Master Gardener within.  In Jesus name, Amen.

"On his journey, as he was nearing Damascus, a light from the sky suddenly flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?" He said, "Who are you, sir?" The reply came, "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting."  ‭‭Acts‬ ‭9‬:‭3‬-‭5‬

Who am I persecuting in this world?

Dear Lord God, I am grateful this morning for Your Holy Presence as You spoke.  I heard Your word revealed thru another that is on the way.  Help me see Father the ways I am not conveying the Love of Your Son and continue to refine Your sin.  Prayers for Your grace to be revealed this day, I ask in Jesus name, Amen.

"Then the angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, "Get up and head south on the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza, the desert route.""

"The Spirit said to Philip, "Go and join up with that chariot."

Then Philip opened his mouth and, beginning with this scripture passage, he proclaimed Jesus to him."  Acts‬ ‭8‬:‭26, 29‬, ‭35‬

"It is written in the prophets: 'They shall all be taught by God.' Everyone who listens to my Father and learns from him comes to me." John‬ ‭6‬:‭45‬

How is God speaking to you?

Dear Father, we are all called to go and proclaim the blood of Jesus thru our lives.  Your word speaks to each of us in different ways thru the lessons You are teaching.  I thank You for the grace of this morning, for the desire that You have placed within my heart.  I thank You Father for the sacrifice of others that we may live in a free country.  May we not give up our freedoms for the price of security.  You are our loving Father, keep us close and thank You for another day.

"For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life, and I shall raise him [on] the last day.""  John‬ ‭6‬:‭40‬

The will of God.  Who's will are you fulfilling?  Yours or God's

Dear Father, I thank You for the gift of this day, for the gift of Your people living out their lives fulfilling Your will by sharing Your Son with others.  Thank You Father for seeing You at work through others and witnessing the power.  Bless this day and all those who read Your word, Amen.

Daily Thoughts - We are an Easter People.

"Cast all your worries upon him because he cares for you. Be sober and vigilant. Your opponent the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion looking for [someone] to devour. Resist him, steadfast in faith, knowing that your fellow believers throughout the world undergo the same sufferings. The God of all grace who called you to his eternal glory through Christ [Jesus] will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you after you have suffered a little. To him be dominion forever. Amen."  ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5‬:‭7‬-‭11‬

Be vigilant.  Do we ever really arrive in the spiritual life?  Looking back through time there was a group of people "doing God's work" who believed they knew the law.  In their minds they had arrived and they proceeded to crucify Jesus.  Be vigilant.

As we sit with God it is He who will correct you, establish you and confirm you.  Within this relationship it is God who speaks thru the words on the page and the life lessons you are being taught.  If I ever get there on this side of Heaven it is because I have been lulled to sleep and have become too proud to listen.

"Your opponent the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion looking for [someone] to devour."

Dear Father God, I hear You speak the truth into my heart as we reflect upon the lessons and the day ahead.  I see the coaching that is going on and the lessons learned from good choices and bad ones.  I thank You for the grace to sit and listen, to hear when nothing is being said.  Prayers for those that are asleep, that have succumbed to the skims and lies of the devil, may they be jarred awake.  Thank You Father for jarring them awake.  Watch over us this day and may we be ever vigilant.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Daily Thoughts - We are an Easter People.

Daily Thoughts - We are an Easter People.

"One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.'" ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬

"All those who sat in the Sanhedrin looked intently at him and saw that his face was like the face of an angel."  ‭‭Acts‬ ‭6‬:‭15‬

What are you consuming?  It is early, and I am getting ready for my day.  My heart seeks out the food that satisfies the soul.  I sit in the stillness and have a conversation with God.  He shows me Stephen, living within the world but not of the world.  His life is the evidence that Jesus rose from the dead.  Anyone who looks upon him can see that no matter what is being said he is not bothered other than doing the will of God.

I contemplate the food that we consume, the daily barrage that speaks against the teachings of Jesus.  The lives of many are being influenced by their diatribe.  The words are meaningless and lead to destruction.  And here I sit listening to every word that God gives within my thoughts.

It takes effort to sit and listen, to be in the presence of God.  There is no right way or wrong way other than following His direction.  What are you consuming?  Can you live as Saint Stephen did in the world and not of the world.  It begins with God and ends with God, be careful on what one feeds the soul.

Dear Father, we are ready to tackle the day and the week.  I see Stephen as he goes about doing what is asked of him.  He sat at Your feet and listened to what was being said until he understood.  Help us get to this place in a world that denies You.  Mary, give us the grace to see the areas of our life that does not please our Father in heaven.  Thank You Father for another day to try, may we be a pleasing offering in Your site, Amen.

Daily Thoughts - We are an Easter People.

Daily Thoughts - We are an Easter People.

"The sea was stirred up because a strong wind was blowing. When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat, and they began to be afraid. But he said to them, "It is I. Do not be afraid." They wanted to take him into the boat, but the boat immediately arrived at the shore to which they were heading."

Focus.  Rowing in rough seas is hard work, it can be exhausting.  Life can be that way as well if we are focused on the rough seas.  Jesus as He walked the rough seas, His focus wasn't on the seas, it was on above and His purpose.

The disciples looked to Jesus, it was Jesus that had their attention.   The rough seas no longer seemed to impede them or their progress.  Their desire was to bring Jesus into the boat and then they arrived to their destination.

Life can get difficult at times especially when we focus upon the rough seas.  Focus upon Jesus, look to Him to bring you to the other side.  Without Him it will be a long hard journey, with Him and a holy fear, you are there.

Dear Father, life comes at us each day and it is a life that was meant for us.  Help us focus on You, and what surrounds us goes away.  I thank You for another beautiful day filled with the Joy of life.  Watch over this day so we may return the focus.  Prayers for a friend rowing the boat with a strong wind, may he find You to focus upon.  Amen.

Daily Thoughts - We are an Easter People.

Daily Thoughts - We are an Easter People.

"But a Pharisee in the Sanhedrin named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law, respected by all the people, stood up, ordered the men to be put outside for a short time, and said to them, "Fellow Israelites, be careful what you are about to do to these men.

So now I tell you, have nothing to do with these men, and let them go. For if this endeavor or this activity is of human origin, it will destroy itself. But if it comes from God, you will not be able to destroy them; you may even find yourselves fighting against God." They were persuaded by him." ‭‭Acts‬ ‭5‬:‭34‬-‭35‬, ‭38‬-‭39‬

A discerning heart.  The Pharisee named Gamaliel reached within and listened.  He did not act upon his own will, he listened to God. He does not mention the resurrection of Christ but he has contemplated the stories he has been hearing.  Was he one of the Pharisee that condemned Jesus to death because of his zeal and has now come to be reconciled with God.  God is love.

When we operate within the will of God and not allow our own passions to gain control we will make the right choice.  For we are listening with our hearts, we are judging the outcome.  Look about you, are the endeavors of God?

Human origin is self serving, God origin is other serving.  Have a blessed day, spend sometime in thought, it does the heart good and the soul will benefit if the heart is good.

Dear Father, I see You at work bringing all things together, I see the strings that make up the picture coming together.  Help us slow down and be deliberate with our choices.  Help us see where our passions interfere with Your will.  Continue to call the lost sheep home, thru poor choices You reveal the way.  Prayers for a friend watching and learning how You operate.  Thank You for the people You have placed within my life.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Daily Thoughts - We are an Easter people.

Daily Thoughts - We are an Easter people

"For the one whom God sent speaks the words of God. He does not ration his gift of the Spirit. The Father loves the Son and has given everything over to him. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever disobeys the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains upon him."  John‬ ‭3‬:‭34‬-‭36‬

Belief.   Do you believe that what is written within God's word actually happened?  Did Jesus actually die and rise from the dead?  Belief is a hard thing for us if we have no proof.  Our intellect wants to hide the truth from us, for we must see, we must hear, we must touch.  Belief is not an easy journey for at every turn there is doubt and reason.

Faith, do I trust that God is all knowing and all powerful.  Do I trust that even in my unbelief, God will show me life so I may believe.  Not having all the answers is part of the journey.  Not needing all the answers is Faith.

"Jesus said to him, "Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed." ‭‭John‬ ‭20‬:‭29‬.  Thomas didn't believe his friends, yet he continued to seek God.  He showed up, God gave Thomas what he needed.  Showing up is the part that God asks us to obey.  "Remember the sabbath day—keep it holy."  Exodus‬ ‭20‬:‭8‬

Thomas showed up in his unbelief, will you?

Dear Father, I know You hear the cry of the heart that does not believe but wants to believe.  I know You will address their unbelief and they must decide.  Free will is a tremendous responsibility and it has eternal consequences upon which "one" we honor, self or You.  Thank You Lord for Your amazing grace that has opened up the mind of one of Your wayward children.  Bless this day, may we be attentive to Your call in our lives, Amen.

Daily Thoughts - We are an Easter People.

Daily Thoughts - We are an Easter People.

"Then the high priest rose up and all his companions, that is, the party of the Sadducees, and, filled with jealousy, laid hands upon the apostles and put them in the public jail. But during the night, the angel of the Lord opened the doors of the prison, led them out, and said, "Go and take your place in the temple area, and tell the people everything about this life."  Acts‬ ‭5‬:‭17‬-‭20‬

"Peace be with you."  Setting the captives free, Jesus walks with the Apostles until they understand.  He spoke to them in words and actions they could understand.  Slowly their worldly view of how it should be began to change.  God was separating the light from the darkness.  Their old way of thinking, living in sin was blinding them to the true nature of God and His plan.

"Then God said: Let there be light, and there was light. God saw that the light was good. God then separated the light from the darkness."  ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬-‭4‬.  We live in darkness until we don't.  The walk we make each day with God is a slowly chipping away at our lack of understanding and then TaDa, the prison walls are open.

"But whoever lives the truth comes to the light, so that his works may be clearly seen as done in God."  John‬ ‭3‬:‭21‬.  Where are you at?  Behind prison walls or out living in God?   It is a great mystery and it is a joyful mystery.

What is God saying to me? "My Son never condemns unbelief, He walks with us until we understand."

"There is a joy in My presence, all darkness has been removed, never leave My presence and allow Me to radiate thru you, all you have to do is be willing."

Have a blessed day, We are loved by God no matter our circumstances nor our unbelief or our lack of understanding.

Dear Heavenly Father, You stitch thru time and bring about our transformation slowly and surely.  Your voice brings us into a deeper understanding and our world view changes until it imitates the view Jesus has.  There are no prison walls that can hold Christ, there is no box that You can be held within.  Thank You Father for speaking within, it is a joyful day and the temple area awaits.  Jesus, I trust in You, Amen.

Daily Thoughts - He is Risen.

Daily Thoughts - He is Risen.

"No one has gone up to heaven except the one who has come down from heaven, the Son of Man. And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.""  ‭‭John‬ ‭3‬:‭13‬-‭15‬

Teacher.  Nicodemus sits at the feet of Jesus and Jesus gives him the gift of eternal life.  Nicodemus does not understand what Jesus is saying, it is foreign to him yet within his heart he knows it to be true.  Jesus serves His people, He gives of Himself completely knowing what is to come.

When the time comes, what Jesus taught is activated, Nicodemus has that aha moment as he looks upon the crucified Christ.  He has pondered this saying of Jesus's until it became ingrained within.  And he realized what gift Jesus gave him when He gave all.  The next step was easy of Nicodemus for his Teacher showed him the way.  Nicodemus was being called into service to serve God in the body and the blood, soul and divinity.

Playing it safe in the Christian life does not work, doing what feels comfortable and not doing what is asked by God is painful.  As we listen to Christ speak, listen to the peace that is given, hear the words of eternal life and trust that God will provide in all situations.

Dear Jesus, You have the words of eternal life, as we sit at Your feet may we feel the peace that is being given.  Thank You Lord for the gift of this day, for the lessons that You will provide in our journey.  I am sorry Lord for not always getting it and I am thankful for Your patience with Nicodemus.  You know what lays ahead and it is beautiful.  Prayers for a friend wanting to hang on to the past, may they see the journey ahead is filled with faith and given by God, trust.  Blessings Father for Your gift of eternal life to a wayward soul.  Amen.

Daily Thoughts - He is Risen.

Daily Thoughts - He is Risen.

"Now there was a Pharisee named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. He came to Jesus at night and said to him, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God, for no one can do these signs that you are doing unless God is with him." Jesus answered and said to him, "Amen, amen, I say to you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born from above.""  John‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬-‭3‬

Teacher.  Nicodemus submits himself to a higher authority, he is a teacher in his own right but he steals away in the middle of the night to learn from Jesus.  He is drawn to Him by God, his heart knows He is the one, it is Him who Nicodemus teaches about.

Do we steal away and spend time with Jesus.  Do we give Him time so Jesus can be our teacher?

What Jesus teaches isn't easy to comprehend, it goes against everything the world proclaims.  But in the quiet of the night Truth is spoken into the soul by God.  Jesus walked with Nicodemus and reveals scripture to him as He prepares him for his mission.

God knows what are future holds, walk with Him in the stillness, on the way, He will reveal what the scriptures are saying so you can understand their meaning.  Nicodemus lived out the Gospels and so do we if we are the student.

Dear Father, I sit and witness life, the life of Nicodemus as You teach.  Your word penetrates his heart and he becomes Your faithful servant.  May we meet in secret and allow You to open up the scriptures trusting that You will lead the way.  Thank You Father for a beautiful weekend celebrating little ones being drawn to You.  There is something special revealed within the faith of a child, may we all become child like and act in faith.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Daily Thoughts - He is risen.

Daily Thoughts - He is risen.

"He said to them, "Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature."  Mark‬ ‭16‬:‭15‬

"So they called them back and ordered them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. Peter and John, however, said to them in reply, "Whether it is right in the sight of God for us to obey you rather than God, you be the judges. It is impossible for us not to speak about what we have seen and heard." After threatening them further, they released them, finding no way to punish them, on account of the people who were all praising God for what had happened."  Acts‬ ‭4‬:‭18‬-‭21‬

Peter's witness.  Unjustly held for doing God's will, Peter displays the love of Christ.  His proclamation of the living Christ isn't in words, it is in actions.  He has experienced the love of God, he has felt the pain of denying Him and he has experienced forgiveness.  This is the gospel message, repent and believe.  Peter's salvation is on display, it speaks to his total commitment in times of adversity and upon whom he depends upon for the outcome.

"Preach the gospel at all times and use words if necessary."   A quote attributed to St Francis.  God's Word convicts us to live a better life, to give witness to its saving power.  What does "my" witness say about "my" salvation and who "I" belong to.

Have a blessed day, never forget we are an Easter people, St Peter gives us the example of how to live as an Easter people.

Dear Lord God, You know my witness and You know what needs to be said so it has the impact that You need.  Thank You Father for speaking into the depths of my soul, I believe it will produce the effect that You are forming.  Thank You Lord for the faithful witnesses of young souls receiving Your True Presence this morning.  I ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

Daily Thoughts - He is Risen

Daily Thoughts - He is Risen

"Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him, "We also will come with you." So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing."  ‭‭John‬ ‭21‬:‭3‬

"They brought them into their presence and questioned them, "By what power or by what name have you done this?" Then Peter, filled with the holy Spirit, answered them, "Leaders of the people and elders: If we are being examined today about a good deed done to a cripple, namely, by what means he was saved, then all of you and all the people of Israel should know that it was in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazorean whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead; in his name this man stands before you healed. He is 'the stone rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone.'"  ‭‭Acts‬ ‭4‬:‭7‬-‭11

The witness of Christ.  In todays first reading, Jesus appears to the, disciples for the third time.  In a sense they are still lost, falling back into their old ways, going back to what brought comfort.  They knew the story, they had the knowledge but they were not living it.  Then…

Christ enters in, takes up residence in the tabernacle not made by hands.  Peter comes alive and becomes the witness of the resurrection.  He is no longer living in death and fear, he is alive with the Spirit of God.

Knowledge is a great thing but it serves no purpose if it is not lived.  We are an Easter people, where are you within the story of Christ.  Have you gone beyond?

Dear Father God, our logical minds struggle with reason trying to comprehend what is written and there you are in plain sight to be seen.  Help us see our witness of Christ, have we gone beyond self and are we living with the resurrection.  Help us hear a your voice today and live the story as authentic witnesses of Your reality.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.  Thank You Father!

Daily Thoughts - He is risen.

Daily Thoughts - He is risen.

"When Peter saw this, he addressed the people, "You Israelites, why are you amazed at this, and why do you look so intently at us as if we had made him walk by our own power or piety? The God of Abraham, [the God] of Isaac, and [the God] of Jacob, the God of our ancestors, has glorified his servant Jesus whom you handed over and denied in Pilate's presence, when he had decided to release him. You denied the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you. The author of life you put to death, but God raised him from the dead; of this we are witnesses. And by faith in his name, this man, whom you see and know, his name has made strong, and the faith that comes through it has given him this perfect health, in the presence of all of you. Now I know, brothers, that you acted out of ignorance, just as your leaders did;"  Acts‬ ‭3‬:‭12‬-‭17‬

The transformation of Peter.  Peter is not the same man hiding from God, denying he knows him.  Peter is a new creation and is imitating Christ, his teacher.  The same people that called for the crucifixion of Christ, he speaks to.  There is no anger or hate in Peter's heart, he holds no grudges or condemns them.  He has forgiven them for he knows himself, from his own experience who he has received and the forgiveness he has received.

Christ has come alive within Peter, Jesus was raised from the dead and so was Peter.  He was dead to his own sin and his own ignorance, now he has come to life, life with Christ.

It looks like this happened overnight for Peter but it happened over several years.  Jesus and him journeyed together, they were friends and they didn't always see eye to eye.  Peter now sees the glory of God within his midst.  As you Journey do not become concerned with the result, relax and walk with Christ.  It is He that makes the transformation within not "I".  "I" must be open and obedient to the Fathers will.  Have a blessed day!  Happy Easter, we are an Easter people.

Dear Father, there is a joy burning within and the light of Christ that is revealing who Your creation is.  I see Simon and I see Peter, two different people.  I see Peter as You had intended us to be, without sin.  Thank You for the gift of life.  Prayers for a friend not seeing what is written, may they see their story within Your Holy Word.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Daily Thoughts - He is Risen

Daily Thoughts - He is Risen

"Now that very day two of them were going to a village seven miles from Jerusalem called Emmaus, and they were conversing about all the things that had occurred. And it happened that while they were conversing and debating, Jesus himself drew near and walked with them, but their eyes were prevented from recognizing him.

Then the two recounted what had taken place on the way and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread." ‭‭Luke‬ ‭24‬:‭13‬-‭16‬, ‭35‬

The hidden life.  How many times have we walked with Christ and not even realized He was there?  Or, it is the week after Easter Sunday and we find ourselves falling back into the normal routine not seeing our resurrection.

There is a lot that can be unpacked within God's word.  But for it to be real for each of us, it must be experienced, otherwise it is just a nice story that we can not identify with.  Jesus is hidden within our days, walking right along side us and revealing scripture to us.  The choice we have to make is to consume His body and His blood, to sit with Him and break bread.

How packed our Churches our during Easter Mass and then most go back to the norm not realizing the true presence of God in their lives.  Manna from Heaven is provided each day as we sit with God as we read His word and recount our day.  The hidden life of Christ is revealed to us in the simplest of acts if we recognize Him in the breaking of bread.

Come back to Mass if that isn't your norm, you will never know what God will reveal to us as He consecrates the sacred food.

Dear Father God, the desert is a dry and parched place but each morning You provide the heavenly food that feeds the soul.  It is not hidden if we are in union with You.  I thank You for another day to see You at work within, to listen to the stories and experience the resurrection of Christ within.  Your word will not come back void and the crippled man will come to life just as Peter did as he responded to your voice.  Bless this day and all it has to offer, Amen.

"And they said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She said to them, "They have taken my Lord, and I don't know where they laid him." When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus there, but did not know it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you looking for?" She thought it was the gardener and said to him, "Sir, if you carried him away, tell me where you laid him, and I will take him." Jesus said to her, "Mary!" She turned and said to him in Hebrew, "Rabbouni," which means Teacher."  John‬ ‭20‬:‭13‬-‭16‬

Drawn.  As I listen to the quietness searching for Christ, seeking to fill that which my heart desires.  I like Mary do not recognize the Lord as He calls me to prayer.  That first Easter morn, God calls them to the tomb, knowing it to be empty.

Mary stayed at the tomb as the apostles returned to tell of the resurrection not fully understanding.  Mary does not recognize God in her midst and mistakes Him for the gardener.  He calls her by name and His world is revealed to her, her joy is complete, her desire has been met.

Many mornings within prayer, it feels like that empty tomb, knowing He has been raised but there you sit waiting upon the Lord.  He sits in silence and gazes upon His creation, then out of the darkness He speaks and reveals Himself.

Recognize that you are being drawn to God, recognize that desire within that only God can satisfy and go to Him.  Sit in the silence, witness the emptiness of the moment and never forget He is there.  Out of the silence He speaks your name and you recognize your teacher.  Happy Easter, may the joy of Christ fill your soul in prayer.

"But as it is written: "What eye has not seen, and ear has not heard, and what has not entered the human heart, what God has prepared for those who love him,""‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭2‬:‭9‬

Dear Father, I hear You calling my name, I am overwhelmed by Your love and I see.  Thank You Jesus for another great day to go out into the darkness with the hope of radiating the day with Your joy.  Thank You Father for eyes to see and a heart filled.  Bless this day and all it has to offer, may we all recognize what brings us peace that satisfies the soul, in Jesus name, Amen.
