Daily Thoughts - Holy Saturday.

Daily Thoughts - Holy Saturday.

"In the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth— and the earth was without form or shape, with darkness over the abyss and a mighty wind sweeping over the waters— Then God said: Let there be light, and there was light. God saw that the light was good. God then separated the light from the darkness. God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." Evening came, and morning followed—the first day." ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1‬:‭1‬-‭5‬

God is calling!  He is awakening the dead.  On Holy Saturday we celebrate the Easter Vigil and reflect upon the journey thru life.  As I read the readings for this special mass, I recall the times that I wandered away from being faithful.  Within His words, I hear God calling, inviting us back home.  There is a joy that illuminates the soul when we sit and visit with God.

The darkness we experience in life can become overwhelming and yet there is Jesus Christ, waiting upon us to awake from our dead sleep to be reunited with the Father.   The light of Christ breathes life into our souls and helps us see the joys of each day we are given.

Journey thru time with God and read His/our story.  There is no Easter Sunday without a Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday.   Holy Saturday Vigil readings - https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/040823.cfm

If you have been away from the Church, God is calling you back.  He invites back into the light, Easter is a time for rejoicing and coming in out of the cold dark night.  Jesus is raised from the dead, and our lives give proof of His existence.  Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.  1 John 4:4b

"For your husband is your Maker; the Lord of hosts is his name, Your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, called God of all the earth. The Lord calls you back, like a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit, A wife married in youth and then cast off, says your God. For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with great tenderness I will take you back. In an outburst of wrath, for a moment I hid my face from you; But with enduring love I take pity on you, says the Lord, your redeemer. This is for me like the days of Noah: As I swore then that the waters of Noah should never again flood the earth, So I have sworn now not to be angry with you, or to rebuke you. Though the mountains fall away and the hills be shaken, My love shall never fall away from you nor my covenant of peace be shaken, says the Lord, who has mercy on you."  ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭54‬:‭5‬-‭10‬

Dear Father, I thank You for the joy that burns within, it is a blessing to sit and listen to You speak and share Your joys and Your pains.  Prayers for the faithful to take notice and heed Your word so Your Son may brighten their days.  I ask this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
