Daily Thoughts - into the deep
Can we step back and look at our own situations in life and see the condemnation we draw upon ourselves when one or more of the seven deadly sins gets a hold of us? Joesph's brothers had allowed, envy, jealousy and anger to take hold of them as they plotted against their brother. The same was true of the Pharisee's as the plotted against the Son of Man.
"Come, let us sell him to these Ishmaelites, instead of doing away with him ourselves. After all, he is our brother, our own flesh." His brothers agreed." Genesis 37:27
The challenge we have is to step back and see what God sees. Joesph-Jesus was doing the will of the Father. We are all called to get there, to ignore self and follow Jesus. It is not an easy journey towards Jerusalem, keep your eyes fixed upon Him, Joesph-Jesus did and saved his brothers from destruction.
Dear Lord God, I read Your story within Genesis which is really our story. It is one we must all go through as we draw closer to You. Help us see what Joesph-Jesus seen and help us take advantage of the graces received within the sacraments of the Church as we cross the desert of life. In Jesus name, Amen.

Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4b
