Daily Thoughts - into the deep.
"Hear the word of the Lord, princes of Sodom! Listen to the instruction of our God, people of Gomorrah! Wash yourselves clean! Put away your misdeeds from before my eyes; cease doing evil; learn to do good. Make justice your aim: redress the wronged, hear the orphan's plea, defend the widow. Come now, let us set things right, says the Lord: Though your sins be like scarlet, they may become white as snow; Though they be red like crimson, they may become white as wool. If you are willing, and obey, you shall eat the good things of the land; But if you refuse and resist, you shall be eaten by the sword: for the mouth of the Lord has spoken!" Isaiah 1:10, 16-20
Isaiah speaks in the Old Testament but his words are of the New Testament, they are Jesus's words. Actions speak louder than words, how can these words apply to us in this day and age? How can I apply them within my daily life. Listen Sodom and Gomorrah, sure looks and feels like Sodom and Gomorrah. Isaiah felt the same way with an ungodly people yet He spoke truth into his day not in word but in actions.
The heart of God awaits us when we sit with Him, He speaks and "I" listens. "Then from the cloud came a voice that said, "This is my chosen Son; listen to him."" Luke 9:35. We are in the desert, a desolate place but yet Isaiah's words ring true, they give us direction and hope. The hope of God surrounds us if we are listening, this age will have no long lasting effects upon us if we listen to the Master. "Do not be called 'Master'; you have but one master, the Messiah." Matthew 23:10. Thy will be done not my will be done, I need reminded often of that.
Dear Father, You give us strength within the desert, Your word draws across the sands of time and penetrate the heart that awakens our senses especially when we have fallen asleep to the reality of the desert. Continue to share Your wisdom and fruit to a heart in need of You. Prayers for a joyful and peaceful day and a day with You in all situations. Prayers for a friend in need of prayer. I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
