Daily Thoughts - into the deep.

Daily Thoughts - into the deep.

"Abraham replied, 'My child, remember that you received what was good during your lifetime while Lazarus likewise received what was bad; but now he is comforted here, whereas you are tormented. He said, 'Oh no, father Abraham, but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.' Then Abraham said, 'If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone should rise from the dead.'" ‭‭Luke‬ ‭16‬:‭25‬, ‭30‬-‭31‬

The suffering servant.  Listen to Jesus tell the story of Lazarus and the rich man.  There is quite a contrast between the two, one having all that this world can give him and the other living in torment.  When their lives are over everything reverses, Lazarus is living in comfort in Heaven for living out the will of the Father and the rich man getting his just reward.  There is a lot that we can take away from this story and how we are to treat others by seeing the challenges they face.

Now look at Jesus as He speaks of His resurrection, that glorious day that awaits Him at the end of His earthly life.  Who does Jesus identify within His own story.  The Son of God who has it all yet knowing the outcome of the many.  He speaks of the persecution He faces as He is ignored in living out the gospels in real life.  How the thirsty, not knowing they are thirsty will taste the torment, the eternal torment, at some point.

If our mission in life is to avoid torment and,  pain and suffering always focusing on self and not the other who is in front of us, we to will be like the rich man, having it all but receiving nothing.  Listen to God within your day.

Dear Father God, it is another beautiful day to go about doing Your will.  My prayer is it is Your will and not my will like the rich man.  I see both within me and I seek to avoid the rich man's way of life.  In Jesus name, Amen.
