Daily Thoughts - Into the deep

"His master summoned him and said to him, 'You wicked servant! I forgave you your entire debt because you begged me to. Should you not have had pity on your fellow servant, as I had pity on you?' Then in anger his master handed him over to the torturers until he should pay back the whole debt. So will my heavenly Father do to you, unless each of you forgives his brother from his heart."" Matthew 18:32-35
Forgiveness. The servant who's master forgave his debt can not forgive the debt of another he is owed. The anger within holds back his forgiveness and he wants to lash out, he fails to take in the forgiveness he was given. Love has yet to enter his heart.
It is a nice story about forgiveness but maybe you fail to see the reality of how it applies to us. After all you may have been really really hurt by another and forgiveness is really really hard. A man died on a cross and paid our debt, He understands how hard it is yet that didn't stop Him from His sacrifice.
"Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed on behalf of many for the forgiveness of sins." Matthew 26:27-28
The story Jesus tells us is what happens when we harbor unforgiveness in our heart.
Dear Father God, I trust in You, each day we awake and there You are to illuminate the day and bring life within my soul. I love You my Lord and I pray I do not harbor un-forgiveness within my spirit. Prayers for those who hold onto their own un-forgiveness, may they realize the debt has already been paid and they are freed from their misdeeds to go and sin no more. Bless this day, keep us safe and may we all realize the gift we are being given. Amen.
