Daily Thoughts - Into the deep.

Daily Thoughts - Into the deep.

"A song of ascents. Out of the depths I call to you, Lord; Lord, hear my cry! May your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy. If you, Lord, keep account of sins, Lord, who can stand? But with you is forgiveness and so you are revered. I wait for the Lord, my soul waits and I hope for his word. My soul looks for the Lord more than sentinels for daybreak. More than sentinels for daybreak, let Israel hope in the Lord, For with the Lord is mercy, with him is plenteous redemption, And he will redeem Israel from all its sins."  ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭130‬:‭1‬-‭8‬

Can I redeem myself?  I am a good person, I haven't killed anyone, not physically, can I not pass judgement upon myself, my own self righteousness and claim Heaven?  Our forgiveness and redemption comes from God.  It is with the knowledge that God can only pass judgement upon my salvation.  Each day I pick up my cross with the knowledge that I am a sinner, my own human frailties will give my away this day but I trust in the goodness of God, not that I can continue to wallow in my sin but that through Jesus Christ we are working it out.  Getting to the root of it, learning of the love the Father has for us and seeking His help.  Salvation is a journey, not a destination this side of Heaven.

"But the tax collector stood off at a distance and would not even raise his eyes to heaven but beat his breast and prayed, 'O God, be merciful to me a sinner.'"  Luke‬ ‭18‬:‭13‬.  It is lent, what is your tendencies toward yourself, self righteous or God righteous.
